I dyed my dad's fritschis

my dad got new skis and didn't like tho look of the red parts of the fritschis freeride bindings on his skis, so i dyed them

if you dyed them with boiling water you probably just trashed those bindings. The plastic will be a lot weaker than before

U sir r correct, if u put those bindings in boiling water I wouldn't even ski on them

^^do you guys have any proof that this is actually true?
bear in mind that the boiling point of water is still much lower than the boiling point of the plastic

and yes, manufacturers will tell you it's bad for the binding, but they will most likely say so to cover their asses...

i'm still not convinced that short term exposure to boiling water is harmfull...

Its all about stressing the binding. Plastic is prone to brittle failure, when and extra stress is added to an already brittle material, no matter how prolonged the exposure, it is going to make the material more prone to failure (breaking). a quick lesson in materials engineeing, but it has to do with the reorganization of the atoms within the bonds between the molecules
