So I have been rollerblading for +8 years and I just moved to Erie, Pa for graduate school. I'm from Texas and have realized that there a very few indoor parks within a couple hours drive. I have been skiing most of my life, but only on winter trips to Colorado/Utah/Norway. That being said, I need something to get into to be able to stay sane in a region that has REAL winters. "freeskiing" has always been something that I enjoyed watching and I really want to get into it. So here is what I'm asking:
First of all, is there anyone in the area that is a member? I have been looking at some resorts to get a pass to thats within a 2 hour drive. I have heard good things about Holliday Valley, but I dont want to waste my money. I could occasionally drive further(And I def will...maybe VT) but I'm mainly looking for exercise and a way to vent stress.
Second, I only own a pair of boots. Now, I def know how to ski traditionally but for someone who is just getting into freeskiing, would y'all recommend getting shorter skis or longer skis? I'm trying to get a setup before winter starts(in hopes of getting a deal) so any info would be very helpful.
Last, I hear PA sucks for skiing but it cant be worse than Houston, Tx. Anyways I love cinematography and want to keep it going during the winter. I shoot with a canon XH-A1, here is some of my edits: http://vimeo.com/user1964326
Well, thats pretty much it, Im really glad i found this site. I bought Refresh on itunes last month and cant stop watching it. I cant wait for winter to start....
