Thinking of getting a male puppy(German Shepherd)
Has anyone had a shepherd or what kind of a dog would you recommend that would be an all around dog.Also does pure bred have that big of a difrence compared to getting a dog from some joe w/o papers...

yamatom9's dog can do flat 3's sometimes, i've seen it. but get a rot, sheps and huskies are cool too though

i have a black lab (well he's half boxer but you wouldn't know it). like most labs, he's really happy all the time, and is really nice to everybody. he would flunk out of guard dog school on the first day though. purebreds are a waste of money unless you're looking to breed them later on, plus lots of them have health problems

i have 2 english mastiffs a male thats 180 lbs, and a female thats like 110 they're the sweetest dogs, everyones scared of em, but theyre just big wusses their so awesome, i have a yellow lab too, hes such an asshole, when he wants attention he annoys you till your about to kill him, but then he can be all nice and cuddly sometimes, its real tricky.

all our dogs are rescues from people that were like moving or something and couldnt keep the dog, just find a rescue service for your kind of dog and theyll do a home chek and stuff, then theyll find you a dog, its usually cheep too like 300 or so, but they take extra attention cus most of em were at least some what neglected. our lab is a pure bred though, he came with papers and everything, hes a real good lookin dog, i imagine he was originally pretty expensive

I've grown up with black labs, they're one of the best dogs out there, at least i think so...they're pretty loyal to you as well. Boxers are pretty fun as well...they're usually a little more hyper. We've never gone wrong with a lab though

I had 2 Shetland Sheep dogs before I had to move, they were awesome, they never seemed to have that linear type of personality that some breeds have, dogs with mood swings rule. They were either really smart or good at pretending they were, and had a good sense of direction too. And if there's little kids running around they try to herd them instinctively it's funny. And they weren't really big dogs, or extremely small, so if where you're living doesn't allow for Clifford, don't get one...

border collies are really smart and gentle if u teach them to be i have one and it has never bit anyone. white german shepards are kick ass too my friend has one and its like 120 pounds and it looks like it will rip ur balls off and shove them down ur throght but its the biggest pussy ever its hilarious cuz people will come to his house and like shit there pants when they see it

labs are good. purebred can be worth it if you want a dog for hunting. they are usually a little more well behaved and have better senses.

Any lab's are good dogs there really kid friendly...I have a yellow lab that looks white she is super nice an I could never see her hurt anything it is afraid of my cat she runs from her. hehe.

generally speaking if you get a dog that has papers from a reliable (not backyard) breeder, then the dog will all around be better. Real breeders will take the time to get their dog's hips checked (which is a huge problem with shepards) and certified, and will also take time to do temperament testing and shit...but just because a dog has papers doesn't guarentee anything...there's alot of info on the web about finding good breeders and other breeds, and you should also check out animal shelters..

my friend has three boxers, they are the craziest dogs ever. i looked after two of them for a week and i could not stop laughing the whole time. get a boxer, i would but the rets are being bitches and not letting me have one.

Boarder collies are awesome. My aunt just got one and she's going to be training it for some weird thing... Forgot exactly what, but they're such good dogs.
