Why is religion such a big deal?

People who don't believe in God berate the people who do. And those who do berate the people who don't. Let people have their own damn opinions, its really none of your business and too many people are judged based on their religious beliefs instead of who they actually are. Hasn't anyone told people that if they don't have anything nice to say, to not say anything at all?

Because religion is an outdated relic that was only relevant when the intelligence/technology to know better wasn't there. Like Betamax tapes, and religious people claim that Betamax is superior to Blu-ray because people only used Betamax way back when.

Firstly sir, will you quickly glance up to the thread name, you should see text designating this forum(taken from the ancient greek forums or a place for open conversation) as the non-ski gabber forum, for anything and everything non-ski related. And yes,like it or not even religion fits into that domain. If you wish to talk about skiing, head on over to the Ski gabber forum.

Contrary to your allegations, I was debating no one. A question regarding religion(something I feel strongly about) came up, I popped into the thread and posted my opinion, my post was not in response to or in opposition of anybody. It was YOU SIR, that sparked this alleged debate with your infantile name calling and general blind rage. And as for the factual content of my OP, I used what is called analogy. Or the comparison of one thing to another, more relate-able thing(Betamax v. Blu-ray) in order to get an idea across more clearly. I cannot stress enough that it was not a science v. religion post. It was a, my opinion v. religion post. That's how I feel.

I can understand that you don't agree, but it is in no way within your rights to moderate what I or anyone else can say in threads that you may disagree with, if you don't have anything to contribute except childish name calling, "go cry more you ignorant fuck." (google ignorant by the way, you need it.) Then you should leave, and if things get out of hand a mod, not you, will take care of it .

Because the religious majority feels the need to enforce their viewpoints and practices on the minority. It would, technically, be fine if these deluded people kept to themselves, but they feel the need to exercise authority over all that is my, and others', lives with their primeval bullshit.

look at the radical muslim culture... women have to wear a burka (spelling?) because if theyre caught looking at a man they will be stoned.

you can tell alot about a person based on there religous beliefs. and i know this is stereotyping... but in general wouldnt you rather have fun with someone who isnt religous over someone who is?

False. The Type of burka and clothing options are largely Country-based. Pakistan is different from Jordan, is different from the UAE is different from Saudi Arabia. And no, that man thing is bullshit. It's to show modesty and remove sexual temptation from everyday life.
