Replying to $1000CDN budget first DSLR
Hey guys so I am going to Japan in a couple of months, for a year and I want to buy a camera to take with me so I can get lots of cool shots and video.
I have been looking at the Canon t2i, Sony a55, Nikon d90,d3100,d5000 all with kit lens 18-55 with the intention of buying a telephoto lens in the next six months.
I am thinking $1000 w kit lens.
Currently I also have a gopro which I use in the snow for footage, but I may want to use my new camera in the spring, and perhaps outside in the snow about town, but not on the hill.
I am really interested in shooting quality HD video and here is the dilemma.
My understanding is the t2i has both manual and af in video mode but it is not as fast as the sony (Contrast detection vs Phase detection). If I go with the sony will I miss the lack of manual control in video (amateur video).
I really like the idea of the geotagging and I think the sony is the only one to have this or am I wrong.
I expect to get lots of night shots of cities in Japan as well as some landscape and action shots. I may be interested in getting into Macro too. Which would be best in this situation?
What do you guys think.
