Convince me to buy an x-box 360

So now that they are so cheap and im ultra bored with my ps2 im thinking about upgrading. Problem is i have a feeling they will be coming out with a new console in the next year or so. What are some games that you can spend a lot of time on without getting bored. The only games i could imagine wanting to get is maybe shaun white snowboarding, stoke, skate any of them, and ufc. I dont exactly plan on using live the only bonus i see to that is downloading free shit

i dont think theyre gonna come out with a new console for a long ass time. i dont think the current one has been maxed out yet, and they just released (or are just about to? i dono) the new slim one. plus i assume the internet will hear about it long before it comes out
if youre into shooters, COD and halo obviously are awesome, but if youre not getting live im not sure if you want to get those games
stoked sort of sucks in my opinion.. i was really excited for it and played it once. maybe youll have more fun with it but i just went right back to playing skate, which is insanely dope and will afford you many many hours of fun, especially since youre a skier. shaun white snowboarding, im pretty sure ive played it. pretty sure it was pretty lame too. IMO skate (2, 3) is your best bet for a skiing-ish game

Actually I believe you are wrong, every 5 years Consoles get an upgrade. 2011 is the mark for XBOX, and then I believe it is 2013 for Playstation and Nintendo. However, with all this new Kinect stuff coming out, they might push the date back.

Xbox LIVE is $60 for a full year subscription. But you are really paying for just the online gaming experience. Very rarely do you ever get anything FREE. You can download game demos for free, and sometimes the developers of certain games will be unusually generous and release free content. LIVE is more than just that though, its turning into a pretty big media center now. You'll be able to stream videos from ESPN and HULU soon, which would pay for itself after a short period of time

that sounds reasonable but we wouldve heard about that by now right? plus like i said, new console just got released, kinect etc is coming out, they havent maxed out the capabilities of this console, etc. i bet we wont see a new console for a long time. i hope we dont too..

i have an xbox 360 and love it, and coming from me, get a ps3. it is so much better and there is no longer a cost issue, its only $300, which isn't that much anymore. you can do anything on it. you can even get internet, on your big screen, hd tv. all alone at home? get a ps3.

I wouldnt think they would create a new system for at least another 2 or 3 years since kinect is coming. But then again who knows. I do know that if your not going to pay for the online then just get a ps3.

depends on how you're going to use it. i like the ps3 media server and blu-ray stuff of the ps3. i don't care enough about playing games to spend money online. if you're all about the games though, might as well get a xbox.
check out ps3mediaserver and see what can be done with it.

The deciding factor for me was what system my friends had. All I pretty much do now is play online with them. You don't wanna be the only one with a PS3/Xbox

Maybe notice of it or something. But real details about it? Probably not. This new console isn't really that different either, all that has changed is kinect capabilities, and the hard-drive, and more usb ports. They can't change the overall system too much or it would be a brand new console.
However, to some extent I hope you are right. I hope we don't see a new console from microsoft any time soon. With the troubles of the Xbox360 when it came out, shit like that makes me want to murder console developers. And everyone knows when microsoft releases stuff it is buggy as shit. I hope they take the time to fix this one.

out of all the people at my school, i know like 60 that have xboxes, and 4 that have ps3s. I have an xbox, but I would definitely get a ps3 if more people had them though. xbox makes you pay for every little thing they possibly can, and now theyre raising the price to 60 bucks along with hulu and espn, which i understand, but why not get something with free online and free web browsing where you can just go to hulu.com?

Thanks for the replys but ps3 are 300 and an x-box is only 150 i dont plan on spending a ton of time on it just the nights im not doing anything. Not to mention i dont care for the ps3 its just the x-box im looking at

I have both a 360 and PS3.
If you want game quality and the best online experience: XBOX
If you want the highest graphics, and a blu-ray player:PS3.
the online PS3 experience just sucks compared to the 360's.
And don't say that RROD will decide it. The new Xbox Slim makes it extremely unlikely for it to occur.
