I got a white 16 gig 3g (not 3gs) with 4.0 software (jailbreakable). Also has cool stickers on the back and comes with accessories

i was really hoping for a 3gs but i may be considering these phones. before i make you guys offers i have an interesting question. i am part of a normal att family non iphone plan\n with unlimited texting. if i were to put my sim card in the iphone can i just use the wi fi for internet or will it constantly use the 3g att internet? if that makes sense. im totally fine with only wifi but want to make sure it doesnt try to stream on atts network when im not in hotspot. any help is greatly appreciated.
