This is so very true.
As a British Engineer, now working in America - I came from 25 days paid leave a year to 15 - which is still VERY good for America.
But i cannot believe how it works here for some. My bird has to work for literally 8 months straight before she can take any vacation time... which i find strange.
That said, the work ethic here is not that different to the UK, it's just that workers here accept crap vacation - to me, i've always worked to live, not lived to work - and i think that's very important, and should be reflected in paid leave. You work hard, you play hard. To me - it's the worst aspect of working in the US, but it's also probably the only downside to me on my deal here... everything else is better.... especially less tax!!
Damn. Gotta change my username
