Which country can you ski pow one day and surf 20 ft tow in waves the next?

Howdy Newschoolers

Be good to have a thread that throws up the "best country in the world- where you can surf biggish waves and 48 hours later hit the pow "?
We are pretty lucky in New Zealand in regards to adventure sport - so we will put it out there it's NZ
but where else can this be done ? Aus, SA, parts of Europe

A while back Sage Cattabriga, Dana Flahr, Eric Thummel, Kong Elkerton and Jamie Sterling went on a mission to South Island NZ

yeee nzed and bc are some tight places. dont forget about tahoe u can be shredding sierra cement then be shredding some waves in the same day if u charge on the driving front. dont think nzed or canada has in n out and dank mexican food.

I could ski in Utah, and hop on a cheap flight to LA and surf the next.

Or, even better. Ski all day in mammoth, drive 5 hours to LA.

I don't know of any tow in spots specifically because I don't surf, but I know big surf exists in places off the coast. some of the biggest waves ever surfed are off the coast of CA

you can ski Spain as well....but Spain has limited surfing cos alot of the east coast is the Mediterranean where you get very little surf and alot of the west is bordered by Portugal...

Do the Vancouver Triple: Golf in the morning, go sailing in the afternoon, and ski/board at night. Add some partying in there after skiing, and you've got yourself a solid day in Vancouver!

almost no one surfs the east coast of spain. if you wanna surf you generally go to the north or south, so if ur hitting Andorra itd prob be easier to get to the north surf spots.. good call tho vanular

I believe that would be Norway. You can pretty much ski a line down to the beach and jump into the water.

thats easy. Chile ftw. Pretty much anywhere you are in the country, you are either 2 hours away from the Andes Mountains, or 2 hours away from the coast. When I left about a week ago, there were 10 meter waves breaking on the coast, as well as large santa rosa storms pounding the andes with snow. Best of all, Chile has the longest mountain range in the world on one side, and one of the longest coastlines in the world on the other side which means you are sure to find untouched peaks and remote breaks all over the place.

this. both the skiing and surfing punk anywhere in NZ

you have tahoe, then four hours away you have Mavericks(paddle in, or tow in depends) and you also have ghost trees down by pebble beach(winner of the billabong XXL past couple of years.)

You can Surf in the morning, ski midday, then surf again in the afternoon in southern california. Mt baldy is only an hour away from hunnington beach. Its ridiculous.

Basically the entire east side of the pacific.

I live on vancouver island for this exact reason, and my long term goal is califonria for that reason!

You are correct. Mavericks in Northern Cali is one of the most popular tow in surf spots, besides Jaws in Hawaii

Anyways, I'm going to echo the guy who said Chile, some awesome breaks there and really cool little seaside towns. Also Australia, you can get from Jindabyne to Merimbula in about 2.5 hours, or Mt Buller to Torquay in about twice that.

yea, but the skiing isn't exactly amazing at Mount Washington. Cain, sure, but Washington... no.

In comparison to other places mentioned in this thread, Vancouver Island just can't compete.

Chile, even better you can ski pow one day from 9am - 12 then in 2 hours and a half have your wetsuit on and be in the ocean in a number of great surfing places from 3pm till 7 pm.
