Solider dead?

Army Sgt. Steven J. Deluzio recently died, he is from my town. This got me thinking what is the point of the war let alone war itself and im starting to reconsider my interest in joining the Air Force.
NS any thoughts?

going to war and having other people shooting at my is not my idea of a career, if you wanna be in the air force you should just fly c-5 or c-17 and do cargo runs, alot safer then flying fighter jets into battle

im not so much asking people about joining the military just their thoughts on war itself, i know there have been threads like this but ya know i really wasnt thinking about that at the time i made it more of just the soldier cause the funeral just finished and i was just amazed by all the people that showed up for his full military style funeral

when war is justified, usually when it is a response to an attack or a necessary intervention, i have no issue with it. obviously the loss of human lives is not something to fuck around with, but sometimes there is some form of justification for the incredible expenses and loss of lives.

i think the iraq war was completely useless and not justified, but i think a lot of wars have been necessary. you can't really talk about war as a general thing because so many are different

i would never put myself into the war now, i don't see any point at all and we're making zero progress. we just stuck america's fat dick in iraq and it's been slowly cut to pieces

at least 334 members of the armed forces had committed suicide in 2009, more than the 319 who were killed in Afghanistan or the 150 who died in Iraq.

The point of war, or reason it exists.

One person provokes another with insults. Insulted person sticks up for self and fights said jerk. One person wins.


A country provokes another with threats or endangerment of its people. Provoked country sticks up for self/its people and both countries go to war. Every procaution is made to ensure that they win and lessen their chance of getting beat so they limit time taken in individual encounters and takes best defence by long range battle. Hence in wars we kill and protect ourselfs to our best abilities. One country runs out of people to fight; other country does not. This country is victorious.

Wars are fights on a more practical, self preserving level.
