"We're all getting excited for winter and anxious to hear what's new at Loon this season. Well, here's a quick update to get things started, and we'll keep you posted as the season approaches. Here's the rundown:
We've invested $1.8 million in capital improvements, and it's all about the snow, starting with an additional $1.2 million to augment and upgrade our snowmaking system. We're also adding 428 Low-E HKD tower snow guns, to boost overall snow production by as much as 150%, and maximize snow output at a wider range of temperatures. That means we can open more terrain earlier, and replenish snow and resurface terrain even faster.
We're also adding a new Prinoth “Beast” groomer to our fleet. The "Beast" has 40% more grooming surface and pushing power than a standard machine, and will allow more terrain to be groomed better and more efficiently. It's the first machine of its size in New Hampshire, and one of only two in New England, The Beast is slated to arrive in October, and we'll get some pictures when it gets here.
You'll get more carving, bump and tree-skiing time on North Peak this winter, because we're adding more chairs on the North Peak Express Quad. A new loading carpet at the Seven Brothers Triple Chair will make it easier for skiers and riders to load the chair, for a faster ride time and more time on the hill.
The new zip line has been a huge hit this summer, and it'll be open on peak weekends and holiday periods during the winter.
We plan to open for the 2010-11 winter season on November 20, and we'll keep posting updates here and on Facebook andTwitter so stay tuned!"
