Stanced car thread

there are a bunch of different car threads on here- but a car that is stanced or flush is what gets me going- most of these pics are off of stanceworks, vortex and bimmerforums- but I thought it would be nice to show you guys some

we are all about rare wheels, split wheels, doesnt matter how you get low- coils or air(although guys with air get hated on pretty hard haha)

since were on NS a Subaru to start em off

I just sold my evo to get rid of some school debt early- picked up a mk2 jetta coupe and Bagyard bombers- sitting at home-wheels are a secret- anyone at h2o hit me up- ill be the guy in bagged mk2 with a NS penis in the front seat

look at my german made car with a paint scheme from an american world war 2 fighter bomber and the mayhem it creates when i scrape my rails on a public road.

ya but after a while wouldn't it be a pain in the ass to listen to the noise and have to avoid all speed bumps? Wouldn't your car wear out much faster? And can you even go faster than 20 mph scraping like that?

I'm assuming its on bags, so the guy can lift it a bit to drive it a few miles, but really, I'm not too familiar with the stance scene, but in other parts of car culture, most show cars are meant to be driven a few hundred yards at most.

it is mostly a show car now- however it drove the whole way from Tennessee to the show- metal seats and everything- its been on cross country trips- he has 4 other cars each one absolutely insane- and to all the haters I really dont think he cares about anyone- and thats the viewpoint everyone should take with cars- its my car, ill do what I want - if you like it cool- if not- i dont fucking care

the purpose is basically only to look cool, (though i strongly disagree with the cool looking part) its for people who need and want to be seen, so they destroy a potentially good car by making it into a complete douche mobile, sacrificing anything that may have been good about it so they can "improve" their image by making their car look like dick.

Its honestly addicting to tell you the truth. Lower on springs, then you are like holy shit this is sick, Ill buy coils next. Then you buy new wheels, then spacers, then you roll your fenders, blah blah blah so on and so forth. Its fun and entertaining, people do it because they enjoy it not because they want to show off. Its not a waste of a car either, and most of the pictures you see are for shoots, so before they start the shoot, the guy will crank down his coilovers alot more. But i do have a pretty good quote about it haha.

We buy parts we don't need with money we don't have to impress people we don't know…

he's right tho,
you can't lower a car with only coil overs and expect it to handle the way it did before. you have to consider control arms and tension rods as well.

im not a huge fan of stancing but i know exactly what this guy is talking about. its fun to just work on shit, every bit lower you go and every little detail you add gives you another reason to turn some wrenches.

friend did it with his 03 wrx, and 05 sti. Said with coilovers it was the best 700 dollars he put into the car hahaha

yup, low cars that come low from the factory perform well, because the geometry was designed with the cars ride height being that low. but when someone drops a car like 5 inches it completely fucks up the cars geometry, your roll center and camber curve are destroyed. not to mention being way too close to the bump stops, and the many problems that come from bottoming your car out mid corner.

exactly, people slam their cars with overly stiff suspension and think their car handles better cause its so much stiffer. but those people most likely dont do anything more than take a corner through a neighborhood at 50%. you get at or near the limit and the car will be horrible.

that seems like alot for corner balancing, 700?? it wont take away the effects of slamming a car, just mask them a little. and corner balancing is more just a good baseline to start from IMO. you actually have to drive a car to get the suspension set up properly.

well, today he has a full feature on jalopnik, and on stanceworks website. now that I've seen more pictures of it, I like it even more. its almost a rat rod, what with the rust and oil patina, and the chopped roof. its baller as fuck. I friended rusty on facebook!

h2o picture dump so far- expect another 8000 pics as everyone gets their shit edited

With the new ASt coils- shortened strut housing, increased spring rates etc- these e36's are static and handle like no other for cars this low
