Stanced car thread

there are a bunch of different car threads on here- but a car that is stanced or flush is what gets me going- most of these pics are off of stanceworks, vortex and bimmerforums- but I thought it would be nice to show you guys some

we are all about rare wheels, split wheels, doesnt matter how you get low- coils or air(although guys with air get hated on pretty hard haha)

since were on NS a Subaru to start em off

I just sold my evo to get rid of some school debt early- picked up a mk2 jetta coupe and Bagyard bombers- sitting at home-wheels are a secret- anyone at h2o hit me up- ill be the guy in bagged mk2 with a NS penis in the front seat

thats dealership pricing. jesus. im paying 150$ tomorrow to get my coils installed at an import shop, subaru quoted me around $500 too. most i got quoted at performance shops was $200-$250

or you could just install them yourself. Subaru coilovers could not be any easier to install. It's literally 2 main bolts and 3 small ones up top.

oh i know. the 98rs is a slut. ive had the front suspension off, found that i needed to clip brake line brackets off the stock struts, put it back together, next day acquired bolt cutters, took everything off, cut the brackets, and then while installing the first coil one of the 3 top hat bolts snapped clean off. had to put everything back to stock again, go get another strut to replace the broken one, and im fed up. plus theres so much rust to deal with. 8 hours down and im not wasting any more time,

and the homie Ruben's forester xt. 18x10 square. he had to bend his top hat screws in the rear to camber it to fit proper. planning to go lower i think...

Foresters are great cars, but the whole point of a Subaru is that it is all wheel drive and it can handle terrain. Even stancing an STI is stupid in my opinion... and I drive one

Basically, yeah...

As a benchmark, any AWD Subaru should be able to drive through an uncut field, or on a somewhat poorly maintained dirt road. It seems stupid to me to have a complicated and heavy AWD system in a car if it will only ever ride 2" off the road on flat asphalt for it's entire life.

lol @ using a Bugatti for an example..

There are plenty of AWD super cars, because they really need the extra drive to translate the 500+whp to the road. However, those AWD systems are built specifically for cornering on a track, and preventing wheel spin. I'm talking about the systems which are designed to negotiate snow, sand etc. Like the ones you would find on a Subaru, an Evo, a Volvo, an Audi, or even the X-Drive in Saabs, which are meant for every day driving. It's stupid to suggest that all AWD systems are the same.

I never said you couldn't strip out a car, and change most everything about the drive train and engine and then put it on a track... I mean honestly the cars you posted bare very little resemblance to their stock cousins. Especially the s60 and the Audi.

My whole point is that it's stupid to stance an AWD car which was INTENDED to do the job of handling terrain rougher than asphalt. Let's not forget the car that started my posting in this thread... A stanced out Forester...

my point is your emphasis on the "intended purpose"

why is a forester that has been stanced out for looks because its never going to be used for any terrain other than paved roads, wrong?

by that logic the track built sti is "wrong" because it was "intended" to be a rally car.

It just doesn't make sense to me. I mean look at it the other way... You could pull a boat around with a Lamborghini, it has plenty of torque and it would definitely get the job done, but why would you bother setting up a custom tow hitch for it and changing the way it shifts, just so that it could do another car's job? I know that's sort of a crazy example, but do you see what I mean?

you mean like jon olsson and his roof rack on his gallardo or r8? or the konisegg agera r that comes with a ski box? you have every right to use a car to do whatever you want with it. that being said, your comparison is terrible, a) good luck launching said boat, the engine is going to be submerged... b) by lowering a forester that most likely will never see anything other than pavement, maybe some light snow or dirt road a few times in its lifetime, you arent losing functionality in a car that was bought as a daily... or even a show car. you are "taking away" something a extreme user case scenario functionality versus your example where you are trying to make a car do something that it was never intended to do.


you might as well compare buying a schoolbus as a single individual's daily driver to someone wanting to use an aventador as a schoolbus. impractical vs physically impossible

Yeah actually, in my opinion buying a Lamborghini and putting a roof rack on it is pretty fucking stupid... Just because Jon Olsson did it doesn't mean it makes any sense. Neither does putting a ski box on a Koenigsegg. Bring that car to a track, and then buy a truck or something to put your skis in and go to the mountain with.

Also, I don't know where you live... But I drove a car that was very similar to a Forester (Volvo XC-70) for 4 years and I can safely say that where I live in Maine, it saw a shitload more than just pavement, and that if it had been stanced out like the one in this thread I would have destroyed every low body panel in about a day.

again, i am not talking about YOU, because clearly a car should not be used outside of its intended purpose...

for everyone else on the planet who doesnt see a forester as something that should ONLY be used to be rugged as fuck, or an sti which should only be seen as a rallying machine, a forester, or any other car for that matter, is not useless because it has been lowered. it does not serve the same person to the owner as it does you.

go play with your "rally" car on your rugged terrain big guy

Sorry if it's none of my business but I think what he was trying to say is that just because a forester is lowered and will only be used on pavement does not mean that the AWD system is meant for pavement, meaning that you have an AWD system that is meant for off road type stuff (and therefore not great for tracks) that can now only be used on a track.

and my point is that awd serves more than one purpose, and the manufacturers intended purpose for the car is irrelevant when someone bought the car because of the way it looks and decided to change the intended purpose to fit their own needs. but no, that car will still function fine on paved roads, and i would not doubt for a second that the owner 100% knew what he was doing when he did that to his car. regardless, its not ruined, or wasted because someone didnt use it in the way that bfulmer thinks it should be used.

you can make the same statement about when some kid buys hellbents to centermount so he can exclusively hit rails and ride park. you may not see the purpose or the point in it, but by no means does that make it a "waste" or "ruin" them. think outside the box

OK, I see your point, it just seems kinda pointless. If you're only going to hit rails you might as well save some money or spend the same on something that works better. Oh well though, that's just preference, and pow skis in the park are actually kinda fun. Not sure if that translates to cars or not but whatever.

well i mean assuming that you are in a situation where money is not the deciding factor between the two. i mean you could argue that there is only roughly a $5000 difference (according to subaru.ca) between the top range forester and top range sti. anyways, thats beside the point.

when you stance a car as a daily driver, or lets say to be used as nothing else other than a mode of transportation between a and b, if you can evaluate your driving conditions and come to the conclusion that you can stance the fuck out of your car, or do whatever you want to do to it, and still use it under your primary intended function of getting from a to b, the car has not been wasted. it can be awd, fwd, rwd, a lambo, an H1, a ford f550, its not a wasted vehicle because someone else took a car that is in zero way shape or form, your car and modified it to suit their needs/desires, aesthetics or otherwise.

IDK I think you're wrong. When you buy a car you can do what ever the fuck you want to it,no matter what "it's intended purpose" is. You sound really uneducated when you say that lowering an sti per say is ruining the car. Because clearly everyone that owns an sti intends to take it on off-roading adventures every week...
