Haha okay, that cobra has some huge tires!
/me in this thread
I think the combination of the color, stance, and it being a station wagon just totally turn me off. Some cars can pull it off, but when you have an Audi mom wagon dropped so low that the wheels are buried in the wheel wells, something is wrong.
Figured I'd throw my hat in here too... Now I haven't even pulled this car out of the garage in a couple years but I built this car from a 1997 Grand Prix GT when I was young and had a ton of dough. Whether or not you like it is personal preference, but when I was young I spent a ton of time and money on 'er back when I used to do custom work on cars on the reg and hated imports with a burning passion. Back when I did this work all the time, I planned on it being a marketing tool... But then I bought a bike, started skiing and said "fuck cars"
custom making the front headlight assembly- from the mounting bracketry behind the fascia to the actual molding and forming of the fascia itself to the custom wiring harnesses and relays to run them it took about six months.
Took out the back seat and found two more front seats and another center console via. boneyards to recreate the front seats in the back. Now the front is exactly like the back, and it is awesome.
Had to cut out the trunk floor/spare tire well and custom make a new floorpan to fit all the audio equipment, which includes 2 15" Kicker L7 square subs, and a kicker 1200x1 (actually puts out 1500 watts tho) to run each of them. Old school PPI 200x4 with the dope heat sinks to run the highs in the car which consist of Macintosh, MB Quart and Infiniti Kappa Perfect components and driven by a foldup clarion headunit, but I can't remember the exact model.
Glass wrapped every panel inside, including rear deck, dash and all panels.
Shaved the door handles, locks and antenna myself, and then had my sponsor's shop paint it all in a 3-layer pearl Cadillac Triple Platinum Pearl White.
I'm totally forgetting some shit, but you get the idea. She needs some work and isn't quite finished as it needs a few small mechanical things and the interior needs the leather work done but I lack the interest in seeing it done to be honest as it's really not my style anymore. Anyone want to buy it?
Were you too busy wanking it to scraper jettas to read the part where I completely lost interest and don't really even like the car anymore?
My already said my stance now is that putting crazy money into cars is stupid, and I wish I never did it. I really don't care if you don't like it, I was just trying to add to your mehfest with something that someone actually did themselves- like with their own two fucking hands and shit. It was the car I had when I was into that show scene shit and it started as an SPL comp car, then I started trying to practice stuff like fiberglass work, automotive sheetmetal and electrical systems and somewhere along the line it got way the fuck out of control. But yeah, if you want to feel awesome about yourself and the endless list of bolt-ons you store-bought by repeating what I already said, go right ahead dude. I could really give two fucks.
Great! If he posts pics of his ride or rides I'd be more interested in the quality and scope of the work done than the actual car he picked to work on, because I'm into hand work not what someone's mom's credit card had delivered to their door and installed for them without even getting their hands dirty. If he's a do-it-yourself guy like that, I can appreciate work on any car and respect effort.
If any of you like older muscle cars, maybe I'd show you some of my other shit like the custom sheetmetal work I did for my buddy's supercharged '64 GTO... (8th car down in this link) http://www.goldeagle.com/brands/104_plus/promotions.aspx but this isn't stanced, so it has no place in this thread. Believe me, I've helped build more cars and bikes than I can even remember. I just wished I had gone the off road route rather than the slammed, irreplacable and fragile route in this case.
He hates my car/paperweight, and I think a bagged Mk2 is about as weaksauce as it gets. Who cares? If he does something sick to it, I'd still give him props for puttin in work but that's just me. I'd still take something unique over a sick car that's exactly like the other 20 parked next to it, and even if it's a gay car I can appreciate the work done to set it apart from the rest. No reason for hateage.
Sick!
One of my best friends had a WRX with 420+ at the wheels... Unbelievable car. Kept up with his dad's 911 Twin Turbo AWD until about 155. I like the sleeperish look you had too.
You should see under the hood... I'll try to get some pics, we also made an air cleaner cover that matches the 1-off hood scoop, which he needed to clear the supercharger. That and everything under the skin is all chrome or color matched. That car has won every show it's ever entered. I'm very proud of it so thank you!
Right now working on a buddy's '47 Dodge 2-door. Fuckin monster. Needs more custom bracketry than you could imagine... I call it the headache machine but it'll be sick when it's done.
