Which 2 biders?

So heres the deal im in need of 2 new pairs of bindings for next season. Im planning on getting 2 different brands. I cant decided on which to go with, ive had problems in the past with px12s and im looking to upgrade. The two bindings in question that im considering are pivot 18s and tyrolia 15s. Any other word of advice. im also looking into the salomon sth line.

PX 12's are a decent binding for beginner to intermediate skiers but after that point, yes there can be problems with durability. I wouldn't bother considering tyrolias, and in my personal opinion I don't think the salomon bindings are that great.

The PX14 is actually a fairly decent upgrade over the PX12. A much beefier heel piece. I have a set on my Bentchetlers and am really really impressed with them. If you want to save some loot then consider those. If money isn't an issue that buy Rossi FKS or Look Pivots (same binding) They are the best. Period no questions asked. Super solid and durable with excellent hold. I got a set for my park skis last year and will never put anything different on my skis from here on out.

we're gonna have to know what skis they're for, what your weight, height and skill-level is ....

and by skill level, be honest, it are your knees you're gonna fuck up ...

If you are heavy enough/not a beginner then get FKS/Pivots. Best binding out there, and they really aren't that expensive. Pivot 14's are like $250 on getboards right now.

their is no way in hell your going from a 12 din to a 18 din. Get 2 pairs of fks 14 and save your knees.

Tyrolia 15 and 18s are some of the best bindings out there. For the last 2 seasons I've used them for park bindings. Before that I had FKS. FKS are just too expensive and you have to check forward pressure every 2 weeks or so, it'll adjust on you.

Plus you can usually pick up a pair of Tyrolias for fairly cheap, under $200.

The STH 12s and 14s are both plastic pieces of shit BUT the STH 16s are a fantastic binding.

Also check out the FKS 14 series, there is not way that you can go from a 12 din binding to an 18 so the 14 is probably all that you need. The 14 is usually all that anyone needs unless they are charging huge lines.

Fks 140, for sure. One of the best bindings on the market, and ur never gonna set ur bindings at higher than 12 anyway, so the spring will never get overstressed and wear out

I hope you're joking.  Other than FKS, The STH 16 and Peak 15/Mojo 15 are the best bindings on the market, and you can get the Peak/Mojos for dirt cheap.  Honestly, if you don't think these two companies are good, the only thing you could ski if you're any good are FKS.  Unless you wanna get Markers, and I know how the majority of NSers feel about those.

Really? I rode on 155's 2 seasons ago and 120's last season and I never had an issue with that at all?

Keep an eye on them, I know the two pair I had did it often enough to keep an eye on them pretty frequently.

You're comparing two of the best bindings on the market. Obviously they are good bindings. Both are burly and durable. I would probably buy the cheapest ones.

However, whether you need an 18 din binding if you need to ask questions like this is debatable IMO.

That might be true, but if you're willing to spend the extra money for Jesters, I think you should get FKS instead.

go to your mountain/ ski clubs ski swap and pick yourself up some old fks's i got my 155s for 30 bucks

Actually, since the jesters and variants were put out, everyone is slobbing all over markers dick. Bottom line:

916 and fks 15din+ are the best bindings out there.
A close second are the high end tyrolias and the sth 16.

Yeah, true, Jesters are good, but I would rather have FKS which are at the same price tag.  I think it goes like this: FKS, STH 16, then Tyrolias/Jesters.  I didn't include the 916s because they aren't selling them anymore.  But next year aren't they making an all metal version of the STH bindings?

The 916 is coming back. Much like rossi, salomon realizes they have little to nothing to bring to the table except their bindings.

Also, the jester is not really that exceptional. It's primarily plastic, and in the few years its been out, i've seen more broken jesters than i have fks and 916 combined.

What are you talking about, Rossignol makes quality skis.  And true about the Jesters but some people swear by them.

That has nothing to do with them just changing topsheets from year to year.

When you have gone to the tradeshows for the past 10 years, you realize that rossi was at one point awesome. This is no longer the case.

They are overpriced for what you are getting, which is not much.

The only thing that they have truly been consistent with over the years is bindings.

Salomon, makes some good stuff, maybe their park skis fall apart, but the rest of their line is quality. My rockers have taken some hits, and have no damage, and my czars tooka ton of hits w/ no damage
