I was in the passenger seat with my friend driving on our way to Mt. Baker. We were in a Toyota Land Cruizer. We had 5 pairs of skis in the back and a bunch of other crap. The roads were wet with some slush in places, but not bad. We were on a nice straight away and went to pass a car that was going maybe 40ish. We got up to about 60mph but then in the oncoming lane a big patch of snow and slush appeared. It much have fallen off a truck, or been missed by the snowplows. We hit the patch and slowed down and tried to get back over into our lane, but the front wheel was tweaked as he tried to merge and the back end flung out to the left. We comtinued to spin as we drifted over though our lane, the shoulder, and into a ditch with a bunch of bushes. Right at about 270 the back-right side of the car hit a large wood fence post about 4ft tall. This caused us to flip and we rolled 3/4 of a full revolution and ended on the driver's side.
Shit was insane. The car was totaled, but neither of us were hurt. My seat belt kept me perfectly in my seat, and none of the skis came flying forward to hit our heads. We just walked out of the sunroof. What could have been really bad is that there was a bridge about 100ft ahead of where we stopped.
I was driving out of town into the country, with my friend in the passenger seat. It was after a high school football game and I had just started driving no more than 6-9 months before this happened. It was dark and there were no lights at the intersection I wanted to turn at, so I didn't see it but my friend did and was like "Hey turn left!!"... so I did. I was going like 60-65 when I tried to turn and my car turned and pointed right at the corner of the intersection when the brakes locked up and I couldn't steer it any farther to the left. I knew I was fucked so I just sat back and enjoyed the ride which seemed to last for ever. We hopped the curb and got airborn (straight up dukes of hazzard shit) and went nose first into the ditch. Broke the front axel, bent the frame, my airbag went off, and shit was just pretty fucked up. Luckily my brother is a 911 dispatcher so I called him and he got a tow truck sent out to the accident, but didn't send a cop. Usually a cop always shows up at a car accident, so I probably would've gotten a ticket for him. So the car was totalled, but no injuries besides some sore chests from the seatbelts... and I can say I jumped a car.
Moral of the story... don't listen to the kid in the passenger seat. You're the one driving, you should know when and where to turn the damn car.
