Father-son skiing bond

does anyone else on this site have a dad (or mom) that skis and is just as stoked about skiing as you are. Me and my dad are both super into skiing we go on ski trips together we are both stoked to see the snow pile up out on the front lawn and are always pumped to get to the mountain right when it opens on bluebird weekend days. We talk about skiing all the time to and even though he doesn't understand it much my dad love watching sick park edits.

so i was just wondering has skiing formed a closer relationship between anyone else's parents on NS?

Yeah same with my dad were always stoked when there is a big dump of snow. I even get him off the jumps on some days and sliding some flat boxes.

me and my dad definately do. me and my mom probably ride more together, but during trips and such me and my dad will just cruise all over the mountain looking for fun stuff

The entire side of my mom's family is like that. A few times we have gotten 20 people together for a family gathering and talked only about skiing over dinner.

i love skiing with my pops. but he is not as motivated as i am to take full advantage of the day and get around to everything. he loves to ski...but he isnt like me...obsessed with it.

my dad is who got me into skiing, if it wasnt for him i wouldnt be on this site.
he loves it just as much as i do, and loves watching me and my friends in the park.
occasionally he'll hit the small jumps but loves the woods on a good powder day.

haha my mum and dad used to do that too.. with both my brother and I each on one of their back. and they'd do some crazy ass backcountry. I remember looking at some photos and such of what they did and just thinking "how god damned irresponsible to bring 2 babies down terrain as gnarly as that"

My mom tried it once and couldnt do it. My dad probably would, but he has a pretty bad inner ear problem so anything that requires any kind of balance never really works out for him. Iv had him try a hill in our back yard with a snowboard. He was game but he didnt make it 20 feet without washing out on his ass. Same thing with a skateboard. at least he tries though.

My dad's an incredible allmountain skier who knows exactly where to go to find the best lines in the backcountry at any mountain. It's great to ski with him and have someone to push me in the sport more than friends do. He's really good at coaching so he actually gives me helpful tips on how to further my park abilities and every once in a while he shows what he can do. (fronts) Having a dad who skis is one of the most valued things in my life.

my dad shreds the pow with me and downhill mountain bikes  and even hit some cliff on good pow days. he even bought himself some 4frnt crj's after i got mine because he liked them so much

My mom got me into skiing at age 9. I had always wished that it was earlier... My mom loved it, but my dad hated it due to an injury early in his ski days...Fortunately my step dad was a ripper and he and my mom took me all over the place skiing which helped fuel my obsession.

Last year I took my 2.5yr old nephew out and got him from the magic carpet to a black diamond in one day (he was in a harness and it was a dinky mountain called Bradford). One of my top ski days ever...

In 3 months I will be blessed with a baby boy who will learn to ski before he can master walking. SO PSYCHED to become that dad who will rip with his son at every chance.

my dad is an old school gnar ripper, he still rocks his fire engine red rossi race boots, but he is a damn good skier, had me on skis at 3 years old and taught me everything i know,  skiing with my pops is awesome, we feed off each other and at 57 he's still just as competitive as me at 17

My dad got me skiing when I was 2 years old and I never looked back. He's more of an old racer dude and he was my racing coach for many years but when we go on trips he's always stoked to find some steeps and trees its pretty awesome

Hell ya! that's such a tight bond, my dad is definitely just as passionate about skiing as I am, it's been fun having him so stoked on it, love shredding with my dad.

my dad just screams at me for hitting rocks and trying to ski of cliffs "that shirts to big" You look like a retard" once he ripped my lift ticket of for skiing over a rock on the top of canyons and skied away

yea man same here my dad has always been into racing and was my coach for years back when i raced. when i wanted to switch over to park skiing however he still backed me up 100 percent and was totally fine with me just stopping competitive racing. My dad has also worked in sales in the ski industry for 15 years so he knows all about different ski products and whats the best for what its cool. It also helps that he can get me killer deals on almost ever ski product i need because he has worked in the industry for so long

my whole family is super stoked about skiing, im on a whole other level but they all get really stoked aswell and the car ride up to the mountain is always fun and a good atmosphere

yeah totally, my dad is actually the highest rank ski instructor at my mountain my mom tough my sister and my step dad and step mom. so its really a huge family bonding thing, but my dad is super supportive, (he was very emotional when i got sponsored ahahha)

me and my dad are the same way... we got skiing all the time together and he loves going into the park and watching kids cuz he is to old to do park but he wishes he could... and he gets sooo stoked when i land something new its great

skiing is the only thing that he wouldnt ground me from hahah

Absolutely! It is definately safe to say that my parents are the reason i am where i am with skiing. My dad crew up skiing at crested butte and ended up racing for western state colorado where he met my mom. They both love skiing just as much as i do and always encourage me to ski as much as i can. My best days skiing have been with my dad in the backcountry with my dad.

for sure. both my mom and dad were ski bums in CO, thats how they met and shit but both are mad good at skiing. no freestyle but can ski any terrain and my dad loves watching park edits

my dad always took me skiing when I was growing up, and I would always ski with him and his friends. I remember he got bummed when I wanted to snowboard, because I couldn't keep up with them anymore. haha, and I remember the first time I wanted to go skiing with my own friends. I must have been 15 or 16, and my dad got SO butthurt about it... like I was ditching him or something.
also, whenever there was a good storm I got to skip. and my junior year I didn't go to school for 6 Fridays in a row, because I ditched and went skiing with my dad. I'm so excited for winter, and hanging out with him again.

lucky fuck. it has done exactly the opposite for me. i dont show them edits because they dont like rap and dont understand and frankly dont care. theyre so fucking in to being old and parental that this stuff scares them. i get the "ooooh! i have no idea what just happened but im going to pretend to be stoke dto be nice." they support my skiing only because "its what i want to do and we support you, etc.". i guess its nice that they do that but sometimes its not enough. i would ski with my dad a lot more but ever since he broke his back and discovered that cancer had weakened his bones hes pretty much never going back into a resort. all he does is tour now. it fucking blows

My dad got me into skiing when we moved to MT last year. And he taught me enough to get me to start progressing on my own. Hes always been a skier, and hes got all these stories about heli-skiing, and going to the alps, and supposedly one of his friends went off a cliff and died when they were traversing somewhere. Anyways, I never really did anything with him until now, so its fun. He really kicks my ass at moguls.
