Hey guys so it looks like I can finally get the kind of dslr I want for my budget (less than 1k). Currently I have an ageing sony cybershot and wish to step up to the dslr game . I know the sony is not technically a dslr but I am more interested in the huge sensor size over my point and shoot.
I am looking for a camera to take stills in low light and I want a camera to take some hd video also. I am really impressed by the autofocus on video on these as well as the in body stabilization.
Originally I was looking at the Nikon d3100 or canon t2i but my budget is stretched as it is and I cant justify the premium of the t2i over the sony.
My limited knowledge as to the pros of each are as follows.
Sony a55
+1080p 24fps (though is 24fps too slow to film skiing).
+in body stabilization.
+built in gps (cool as I travel alot)
+swivel screen
+higher res screen 1m+
Nikon d3100
+1080p 24fps (same sensor as a33, I think)
+more accesories
cons
-lower res screen @ around 250k
-no in body stabilization
-smaller sensor than a55
cannon t2i
+available accessories
+more video options (I think)
-No swivel screen
+real viewfinder
I am going to Japan this winter and am really interested in taking lots of photos, video. Which camera would be the best starter dslr at the minute with a limited budget?
P.S; The canon d60 looks ideal but its too much for me...
