Like, gotta be honest, I got kind of bored with that edit. I didn't think any of the shots were that impressive and the coolest part of it was the colors. I love Wiz, but there are so many songs off Kush x OJ that could have worked better. I don't know, i wasn't really that impressed.

I think you may just be mistaking the extremely shallow depth of field that i was shooting with a majority of the time.. The only shot that I completely miss focus on is the second to last shot of will. Some of the shots I chose not to 'rack' focus (change my focus from point a to point b), which keeps the eye concentrated on one spot, that the skier will pass through, and then be out of focus again.

My racking skills are improving, and will get better as i get more tools to help me (an lcd viewfinder and follow focus would be REALLY nice) and more practice in.

Sorry if you arent digging the look i was going for, just trying something new.

Not mistaken by the shallowness. I was referring to how the skier was out of focus for a large portion of the shot. So I guess I worded my statement wrong.

Paul,

How do you like the 17-40 f/4L on your 7D? Do you find it wide enough at 17 with the 7D crop factor, or are you using it more for your go-to zoom, using something else for the wide angle?

i think the 17-40 works amazingly... I'm not really into the fisheye style shots, although i wouldnt mind one for some skate style looking shots.. i feel like at 17, its plenty wide to get good follow shots (all of my follow shots from this year are with the 17-40).. I havent done too many zoom shots, except for the few in this edit and in the WCS edit as well, but it does a decent job for what it is at zooming. The lens is super sharp with great colors and you can even get a pretty nice DOF shot if you stop it down and bump your shutter speed up for some ill lifestyles.
