Snow maker??

when it is cold enough a pressure washer will make snow.

this is impossible. however, with a pressure washer AND an air compressor it is pretty easy. if you already have an air compressor and pressure washer you can make a setup for about 30$

you CANT make snow with JUST a pressure washer unless it is like -50 degrees and you have a 20ft. stand

i've been contemplating if getting a second hand industrial fan, then getting some steel pipe bent and welded in a circle, put circle in front of the fan and attach a pressure washer to the closed ring.
at the other side of the ring i would drill holes and install high pressure nozzles every couple of inches, so basically you have a snow cannon setup, except for the housing, do you think this would work ?

you have the right idea. but typically the hole purpose of a fan gun is to run water at lower pressures. in other words, not needing a pressure washer. however you can use high pressure nozzles (teejets) and run them at lower pressure (maybe 150 PSI) but the droplets will be much larger. i would recommend using Fatcap nozzles. they are the nozzles that are used in spray paint cans and running at low pressures.

I don't really see the point of a homemade snow maker. Isn't it much easier to avoid all the hassle and just drive to the rink and pick up some snow?

its not difficult to build at all and its actually fun to make snow. i have more fun making snow than getting it from the rink and you can make alot more than you can get from the rink and you can make some pretty powdery snow if its cold

i'd have to drive at least 1.5 hour to get to an icerink or indoor skislope to get snow and thats only towards it .....

there really easy to make. what my brother and i did was make a t gun. pics are in profile but never put up ones with it working. but it does does. one end is connected to a hose and the other is to a air compressor. ask me if you have any questions.

no no no no no no. why buy a snow gun for hundreds of dollars when you can make the same thing for 30$? it doesnt make sense to me.

at snowathome, they tell you that you need to order their nozzles which is like 70$. what they dont tell you is that you can buy all those nozzles for 3$ a piece. go to snowguns.com and look up "The Complete Guide To The sm4"

Can someone with knowledge of snowguns PM me for help, I'll send the specs on my air compressor. It uses a hose not a power washer so that might be the problem but I do have a power washer so I might be able to get it to work.
