Replying to Starting up an CSIA big air team
Greetings,
For 2 years now, I have been trying to push the Acrobatic Ski Federation of Canada to mount a big air team to the region of Quebec. I tried recognizing the importance of moguls, but also the shift to big air. Both years, I was rejected and ignored so I gave up.
This year, Im sending my proposition to the
Le Relais ski school . I have gotten together with the directors and they were much more open to the idea of starting up a park team. There were 2 problems that broke down our discussions: my level requirements ( I have level 1 park with the federation which the alliance refuses to recognized + level 1 CSIA) and the fear of poor participation. So, I am coming back to the school with a training plan. It includes the team goals, progression plans, safety oriented techniques and certainly, marketing techniques.
Marketing is my greatest weakness. I tend to be shy and never really know who to go to. I dont have much money to spend and I doubt the school or the ski center will help me out with this. Like I am a single instructor, I also lack contacts. So I need ideas to send out my message loud and strong. I need to market out my plans from the 12 year olds to 50 year old from moderate experience to moderate competitors. What would the best ways to make my project sound attractive enough everyone would come all over the region or better, province to take part.
I have been a mogul competitor from 2001 to 2006 and I have been taking first in small events everywhere up to this day. I enjoy competitions and I want to share this experience to everyone. I have past coaching experience and I teach regular skiing to beginners regularly. I taught instructors, unofficially, moguls, park and pipe. The problem is...I dont have a name in the community, I work behind the curtains.
So I need some advice/help for kick starting my team/course/ project. It has to be strong, and gain popularity rapidly. If there are no reservations before the ski season, my attempt will be rejected and quite frankly im sick of being rejected. So please help, I am willing to give away more information about the plan for better advice.
Thanks NS community!
