Alrighty filmers, after conversing with both Milos and Jamie about getting this thing off the ground, I'm happy to say we're ready to get this rolling. First off, I will not be judging any of these edits - both of these guys will be set judges, and each week we'll have 2-3 guest judges. These are film makers within NS/the industry who have great insight, and are excited to help out judging and critiquing edits to keep you guys stoked, learning, and improving.
So without further ado, I give you the Video contest Week 1
Topic: Summer
"This first contest is to portray your summer and what "summer" means to you. This can be anything from beach activities to watersports - really whatever you want - it just has to be a reflection of summer. For instance, summer to me is about sunsets, good times, friendship, and exploration, so I'd do my best to incorporate these things into my edit." -Milos
Rules:
1) For this week ONLY, you are allowed to file pull. New footage is also encouraged.
2) Videos must be uploaded to www.vimeo.com
3) Time limit: 1 minute
4) Must abide by the theme. If it clearly doesn't, it will be disqualified.
5) NO SKIING SHOTS ALLOWED! There's already a contest for that.
The contest will run from now, 8/26/2010 until 9/09/2010. After that, the submissions will be voted on by the general NS public for ONE WEEK and the 5 top videos will move on. After that, 5 judges - blondie., 1337, and three "celebrity" judges - will vote on those five videos and come up with a winner - in the meantime, they will critique the videos to provide the finalists with meaningful and one-on-one feedback on their work.
