^ For sure the CR article is inspiring.

its worth the wait for sure. some of the selections for the #1's were made by women for women tho, so you have to be careful to not get too stoked on womens boots/skis/ect.

I'm curious what you guys didn't like about the Powder Buyer's Guide or for those that enjoyed it, what you liked?

I think it's pretty clear based on the threads on NS and TGR that no Buyer's Guide is perfect. That doesn't mean that we aren't looking to make improvements. Contrary to what you might believe, we like producing BG content that people enjoy.

Also, please don't post the CR story. While DT's text is awesome, I feel you'd be doing the piece a disservice by posting it online. Plus it's six bucks and change at a ski shop.

This years buyers guide is the best i've ever seen from powder.

I've felt that the years before, you guys picked out one ski here and there, and wrote a generic description. Havent felt like it has ever served much purpose.

This years on the other hand is amazing. Great write ups on the skis, from testers. And then write up on boots. And to make it better, you featured various skis from various companies. Much more useful.

This year was good compared to last years. Lots of pros and cons. Here's what really caught my eye. I also have some ideas/suggestions which I feel should be considered

PRO
I liked how you guys had your top picks and then you showcased all brands. So some smaller companies (Lib tech NAS, Icelantic, Boone) got to show off their line of products alongside the bigger companies (Armada, Line, 4frnt). It made it seem a little more unbiased than the whole concept of the top pick. Hard goods buyers guide was sick.

CON
first thing that caught my eye was the skis in the park section (round 3). A red flag went up when you had skis like the bridges and blends in your top park skis. I've never worked in the ski industry, but I think it's pretty much unanimous decision that those are ski's meant for skiing the entire mountain rather than lapping the park. I feel that majority of park rats, of all levels, across the world would disagree with the selection of park skis showcased in round 3.

I would also like to see other sections like boots and bindings expanded. Because they're important too.

IDEAS
Also, I think that it would be cool to add more sections to the buyers guide (goggles, outerwear, etc.). this is not really a con, more of an idea.

Lastly, How about some posters?!?! I know I like free posters (my bedroom is covered in them).

I was thought this was the best powder mag I've ever read BAR NONE, and I hope you put my thoughts into consideration, Rogge.

The buyers guide was sick this year, very informative, and you also gave each ski a specific place that it performs best, which was pretty cool. I just thought the CR article was amazing.

Well the problem i have with this years as with last year is with most of the skis you just give a dimensions and a overview maybe not an actual reviews. I miss the old buyer guides from freeskier and powder from about 5 years ago they seemed a lot of more in depth and unbiased

I'm just happy that The EHPs are in the top 3 for powder skis, those are the best skis i have ever been on.

I liked the format of the guide because I could find the skier that was closes to me and see what they recommended -

and Cr article was awesome aswell

but my favorite article by far was apocalyptic

Thanks for the feedback guys. Not only will I take it into consideration but I jotted down most of your gripes with the Buyer's Guide and I'll be sure to bring them up at our edit conference or the next time we talk about Powder Week.

personally when i was testing skis this past spring the blends were in my top three skis for park. It was also my number one pick for a one ski quiver.

i wish it was more like snowboarder's buyers guide. they have a complete seperate issue that is twice the size of powder just for products, and publish an actual magazine for the month as well. there were detailed write ups on tons of products, from softgoods to goggles to hardgoods. in powder there were only a few products that had any info written up about them

I was a big fan of the jaded local article. Seriously, i cut it out and have it on my wall. That good.

First of all i'd like to say that i use the internet and as many reviews as i can find when i pick a ski, so when i read a buyers guides it's just for shits and giggles mostly.

From page 111 and on, just a showcase of companies and their equipment, and that's just fine. What better way to expose people to the large variety of ski equipment available to them?

My problem was with the skiers choice section. Maybe it comes from bad elementary school experiences, but i have always hated the name out of a hat idea. I can't help but feel like the last few people picked always get screwed. In this case, the best skis may not have gotten the recognition they deserved because of the "one ski per category" option.

To be more specific, If i were to find the tester that skied most like me, and went to see what powder skis they like, only to find that they were one of the last picks, I would assume that the ski they chose, may not actually be the ski they WANTED, if that makes sense.

Also, i still feel as though their was a lack of detailed information. As in, a lack of things that can't be found on the companies site. I think it would be awesome to have testers list specific incidents that can vouch for the skis awesomeness (although I'm sure that there are a lot of skis to test, so this might be a little hard to accomplish, but a pen and paper could fix that).

Just something a little more hands-on than the cliche - it has rocker so it slays the pow, but with camber underfoot don't count out this ski as an all-mountain player.

I did however like the wide variety of testers.

I personally would prefer each tester being allowed 2 or 3 top picks that COULD overlap. That would show exactly which skis were preferred the most, but would also allow for a variety of skis in the test.

Well, i think that covers it, you have my two cents.

CR article was great. the buyers guide was alright, i expected a bit more as far as a guide. it was more of a general description of 10'/11' skis
