Unibody Macbook Pro mega overheat

I did search this but found nothing of any use.

So, Has anyone else been having an over heating problem with their unibody macbook pro? I know there was an 'issue' in previous version of the macbook pro but thought that had been solved.

I'm running final cut pro, firefox and itunes and and I just burnt my hand on it basically. Pretty sure that's not normal.

Anyone got any tips on how to solve this issue?

use your computer on a hard surface not your lap or a bed, and make sure your rubber feet on the bottom are all present.

but also seems your computer is way to hot. Download istatpro it's a widget or is it gadget? can't remember and it will tell you how hot shit is running and your fan speeds and shit. perhaps your fans are not running properly.

This happens to my Macbook Pro after i download a movie or album. i just put it a sleep and come back a hour later

Like any computer, you have to make sure the fan is working properly and there is somewhere for the heat to escape.  If you toss that thing on your bed and block the fan I imagine it can get super hot.

I recently bough a new mbp and I noticed this when it's on my lap or couch.  At first I was like sweet, it will be nice and warm in the winter. Obviously the surfaces I have it on cause that, it seems to get very hot sometimes though. I usually just move it to a hard/colder surface.

even on wooden tables this happens to me... if you touch right above the keyboard it gets pretty ridiculous.

Macbooks are considered "notebooks" and not "laptops"

It's recommended place for running, as people above said, is on a hard surface away from any material that can act as an insulator

i find that it helps if you actually shut it down often instead of putting it to sleep. and of coarse the cooling pads, they do work.

I've got SMC fan control, you can crank up your fans like twice the speed they would usually go, and I can do heavy HD editing and stuff for a couple hours without going above like 50-60 degrees celsius. I think the reason it overheats is they tried to make it more silent by slowing down the fans, but it's really not that noisy even with the fans at 5000 rpm.
