Final Cut Pro 7 halp- dropped frames

so i'm getting the classic dropped frames error after each transition. i'm editing gopro hd footage using apple prores 422 as a compressor. now i would normally think this is a computer issue, but my computer is by no means shitty. i have a unibody macbook with a 2.4ghz processor and 4gb of ram. i've been through all the troubleshooting steps and it hasn't helped anything. i exported the video and during playback i get lags at the same places and a green screen on the 3d transitions. here's what i've done
1. nothing needed to be rendered except the transitions, but it's all rendered now
2. changed RT from safe to unlimited
3. enabled 'play base layer only'
4. i am not using a shit ton of little clips, in fact it's only 9 clips throughout a 5 minute video (yes, i know, it's boring)

cut me off, anywho any help is appreciated, i'm not totally sure what to do here, but i don't think it's my computer because there is no red text in the error message saying that my disk is running poorly and it's a fairly new, fast computer and i'm editing with compressed HD

Unlimited RT takes more processing power than Safe RT.
If FCP keeps acting funky, repair disc permissions, trash prefs, and see if it still gives you problems.

once you export to quicktime that should fix itself.

I've been getting the same issue here as well but have had no luck fixing it yet. Threads for a possible solution later.
