Technical Hoodies?

Are they worth it?

Because they are obviously not fully water or wind proof but claim to be a more suitable option then your standard hoody. Are they warmer (assuming you don't get wet)?

I sometimes use my sessions softshell. I got it for about 70 bucks a few years ago. I'm sure they still make them. It works great.

Only price I've heard is the one listed in the latest fri flyt magazine (norwegian):

3500NOK = 560USD (Like 9Ne said), but I doubt it's gonna run that high in the US, considering prices in for stuff from backcountry etc usually run about 1/10 (of the price in NOK in Norway) in USD so it might run about 350.. I'd say, it's tech stuff though, and tech stuff with gore-tex usually run for a hefty price, throw in some extra brand money and I'd say 300-350 sounds about right..

love softshells. like sean said, sessions makes some quality ones, and armadas look good, though i havent used them before.

cheers for the replies.

what do they offer which a shell doesn't? my question stems from me trying to decipher if there is a need to get one, i have a lined jacket, a shell but i also would like a hoodie to go under the shell and jacket if needs be. is it worth making it an technical one or save money and just get a normal hoodie?

I rock my cotton homemade hoodie most of the season and stay surprisingly dry most of the time. There's only one time I can remember being a little wet and that's cause the forecast said sunny and then it started storming and all I was wearing was a hoodie. The snow stuck to the cotton and turned it into an ice jacket. It was pretty rad. So this post probably isn't going to help you at all but whatever.
