actually this year instead of the alpha2 last year being stiffer than the alpha1, they switched it around so actually the alpha 1 is stiffer and has the same stiffness as the ar7, both halo and alpha 1 have rocker in the tip and tail, the alpha 1 has a race base

I think the alpha 1 was always stiffer but I could be wrong. To answer the OP's question the A1's are more for big jumps because the bases are a little more delicate so they would take a beating on rails. and the halos are more for boxes and rails but can handle pretty big jumps as well. Doesn't mean that the A1s cant to rails and boxes but if you ski more rails than jumps get the halo.

look at armada's flex pattern. according to armada the halo is a bit softer that the alpha 1 all around. i don't really like the alpha 1 (IN MY OPINION) because of the race base. i just don't want to have to wax my skis all the time, but if you don't mind waxing it, or do anyway, then its a really good ski.
