Salamon STH 16s

Does anyone shred with them? I talked to my local shop, and they don't know anything bout them, even know they carry them..

Either your shop sucks, or the guy you were talking to is an idiot.  The footprint and basic design of Salomon's high-end bindings hasn't changed in the 20 or so years since they were introduced.  Over the years there have been minor changes to the toe and AFDs, but they are essentially the same binding.

I disagree, I think Mojo 15s/Peak 15s/Deadbolt 15s are just as good.

i got STH 16s on my thalls. they are fucking awesome. hands down the best binding ive had. i broke so many shitty plastic bindings. finally spent a little bit more money for a metal binding. never looked back. def get them you wont be dissapointed. I was a bit nervous they were going to be heavy. but you dont even notice

Take a look at what pretty much every pro is riding...it's either FKS 180s, Jesters, or STH 16s.

Really good, solid binding, very lightweight, has plastic, but still very durable, an all around top notch binding.

Aight thanks for the feedback.. And yeah, the guy i was talking to was a complete cocktard. And my shop is pretty sick, but they are always out of stock on the high end stuff..

I have them on my rockers and have yet to prerelease. I would buy them again, especially now that the sth 16 is gonna be all metal

This year you will be able to buy a STH 16 and a STH 16 STEEL.  The STEEL is the same as the old 916 design.  Independent toe wing adjustment versus single wing, and a slightly different heel design.

I prefer the classic 916 design to the newer STH 16 design.

Pretty sure there's only one STH 16 available this year, but Salomon USA did bring in the the 920 full metal binding. Definitely the most baller binding in their line up.

it's insane what each country gets offered for bindings from the same company. Over here Salomon isn't commercially offering the re-done 916 or even the 920.

little question, how would they compare to jesters?
cause i can get both for the same price and i seriously can't decide....
if i had to choose now i'd go for jester simply for the looks, so please help me out :D

Actually, I've been working out a lot over the summer so I gained some weight and now I'll probably be around a 9.5 din.  And I have ridden them, they held me in when necessary.  I just didn't know if they were durable because they were being used as demo bindings and they were pretty old.

Get the sth 16, I have 2 pairs. Brakes are way easier and cheaper to find than Jesters as are heel tracks etc. Bomber binding and not too heavy. Also Jesters dont have adjustable toe height (read worn boots), I wouldnt buy them I am stuck on sth 16, mojo 18 (no diagnol heel), or fks 180/185/look pivot 18. The solly is the lightest of the three though.

Should be able to find them for $300 or less..

It's all good, I didn't realize I'd ridden them until my friend told me that the demo skis I used for like a day had them on it.

Not an authority, I never experienced the durability of it.  I just know they felt good and I trusted them to keep me in when necessary.  I know they're durable because of reviews.

I have STH's on my pow skis and Peak 15's on my park skis. STH's are SO much better, definitely get some.

Really?  I hear different things from everybody, I guess it depends on the person.  For the most part though, Mojo 15s are way cheaper.  You can get those for like 150 some places and I never really looked for STH 16s, but I doubt they're ever that cheap.  I might have to get some STH 16s some time and compare.

I understand where you're coming from, but if I'm going to buy a product, I have to read reviews first because you never know what you're getting into. I don't really pay attention to reviews on how people like skis and stuff, but more on how durable they are.

Yeah for sure, I just think that a lot of people on line just say what they've heard other people say, like probably half of the people in this thread have no actual knowledge of either the sth16 or the mojo 15

Oh yeah the Peaks were definitely cheaper, thats why I went with them over another pair of STH's. They aren't terrible bindings by any means, the STH's are just bomb proof. I have to rebend the brakes on my Peaks a ton because the fuckers always catch when I land switch on edge. Its super annoying and sketchy as fuck.

really? no hate but i rode a pair of mojo 15s on pontoons for 2 days renting at silverton mountain and even with the din at like 12 (which is relatively high cause i weigh all of 150) they pre-releases all the time... probably like 5-10 times in 2 days... quite irritating and dangerous.

i have the sth 14s and sometimes they pre-release as well but my 16s haven't ever... they're a bit heavy with that metal rear but i really enjoy them.

You wouldn't need the 16s unless you plan on gaining weight.  But the STH 12s are nowhere near as good.  And to the person above me, when I rode them for a day on some demo skis I was fine.  Maybe they get worse over time?  All these reviews I'm hearing on them are making me skeptical.

Weight isn't really a huge difference when i comes to din level. Sure i has some to do with it but just cause you gained 15lbs dosent mean you bump your din up 2 levels.

Nah I gained 20, and I'm still working out a bunch and putting on a lot of muscle.  I'll probably be like 150 by the time the season starts.

How aggressive do you ski?
Im 14 5,11 150lbs. and hit 80 footers and charge hard on a daily basis. My din is a 9-10.

I'm 15, 5'10, 140 lbs but putting on more muscle.  I live on the East so I hit 40 footers at most, don't do much rails and stuff, and charge hard.  I ski a shitton of moguls and last year, my din was kinda low and on often occasion I would bounce off a mogul and my skis would just fly off, but I was still in control.  My din last year was set at a 6 (I was like 5'7-8" and 115).

Im from colorado and do a good bit of moguls skiing but mainly park and pow... i weigh 150 and i would recommend the 14s or 16s if you ski the moguls hard... that is generally where my skis blow off un-desired... i usually have to keep that at 12 to stay on skiing moguls hard... in the park/pow/all mt. i ride at 10... the 14s or 16s really aren't much more than the 12s and id rather be safe than disappointed ya know...
