hahahahaha. then you havent actually watched TV. i went to best buy the other day and checked it out, i dont wana watch it anymore because normal TV would suck too much
interesting to see someone in the ski industry jump into this already. how's it gonna work though? are they shipping glasses with every movie? how are you going to play the movie in a shop if your customers aren't all walking around trying on boots with 3D glasses on? until i can view 3D content like i can view regular video, i.e. without obnoxious glasses, i'm not sold.
well, they are the cheap little red/blue glasses that spriggs was wearing, so It will add like 10 cents onto their production costs if they ship a pair or two with every movie.
Ironic that a company like TGR would promote the consumption of thousands of cheap 3D specs after getting behind a project like "Generations" the global warming movie that they made a while back. Didn't the movie from the 06-07 season have environmental undertones too?
Im not a fan of 3D, but that camera setup is just nuts. I would be a fan of 3D if it didnt fuck with the color, and if you didnt have to wear those shitty glasses.
However filming 3D in AK, I think I would be a fan of that.
3d's got its place. Avatar wasn't even close to as good in 2d... AK in 3d would make me sad... I'd think I'd had the experience without getting to ski the lines. ha.
So a few answers to the 3D questions. We will be releasing the film on Blu Ray 3D DVD, which will provide the full Avatar/ high quality 3D experience. We will also be doing some film tour stops with the high quality 3D.
The 3D is in the final 10 minutes of the film, so you will go from 2D to 3D.
There is a 2D version of the film on the regular DVD as well as the 3D DVD.
Due to the fact that a lot of people will not have access to the higher quality 3D TV's and such we are also doing a RED/CYAN or anaglyph 3D version of the film. This will be on the 2D and 3D DVD as well.
Some tour stops will show the anaglyph version if they can't access a 3D projector and have a high enough quality 2D projector.
Anaglyph is the old school 3D and is not as good as the newer 3D stuff.
We will include a pair of the 3D glasses in each DVD.
There is 2D for anyone who does not want 3D, so you will not be forced to watch it in 3D. If you are in a shop and the film is playing you will be watching 2D version.
TGR3D.com will be up in a week or so with a bunch of info on our 3D project.
Thanks,
As far as the environmental thing goes, just because the glasses are paper does not mean they are one time use things. I have had a pair of paper 3D glasses for 8 months. The ones with the TGR logo are going to be super cool for the cheaper versions. We do like to help the environment that we work and play in, but we also do not claim to be perfect. We fly in helis, drive cars, fly in airplanes. Doesn't mean we can't do things and support things that help the snow. We eat food with wrappers that we throw away too. Just the reality of life. Our skis are not the most eco friendly things in the world. We still ride.
Yeah but I still didnt see Avatar in 3D. But you know that feeling when you fly over a ridgeline in a heli, and everything just DROPS! Its really hard to capture that on film it seems like, and 3D would do that. I think it would be sweet.
