I didnt do much searchbarring other than a quick "ns edit" but we need to have a collective edit made by a member of members for members.
Im part of a rollerblade forum where this actually worked out, a talented member took the reigns and was emailed thousands of clips which he made into a master edit.

ns is possibly 100 times bigger and more well rounded talent wise than that forum, so who would be down to send some clips of them for an edit? also, is anybody willing to be the editor?

i think this would be a sick idea, and if its already happend in the past i guess this thread can be about cacti because its hot outside right now.

we would need an FTP drop box and some to edit up 1-2 hours stuff... and it would have to be limited to like 1-2 minutes per summited video

but only take shots from those submissions that are worth putting in, just so theres not like 100 270s out of boxes, rather have talented skiing and small segments maybe

It might work if it was like a 5-7 minute edit. Kinda like the Toyota One Hit Wonder people send in a video of only one trick, which should be the best they can do. Then the better videos that were sent in where put in the actual edit.

We should have a contest! Everyone sends in there vids, like just raw clips no music. you can send 10 top. each clip must be under 20 sec. Then we get about 5-6 AWESOME editors to edit. And about 10-15 people to sort through all the entrys to see what will be in the edit.

Then there could be a thread for a song (or 2) and we could all vote!

how about each member sends their 1/2 best clips of the enite year (all in hd) and we go from there, sort of what he said^. and i wouldnt mind taking part in some editing

jus have like 30 seconds to a minute for each person and when they ski there name comes up and their username. cause lets face it its better to watch lots of short segments as the skiing is not gonna be as good as the pros. maybe like 5 segments for a song so you can see a wide variety of talent

Ehh i don't think all of NS could be summarized in one edit, and if you tried it would end up as an ugly mashed together edit of mismatched clips everyone has already seen

THIS ALREADY HAPPENED! AND IT FAILED. Let it rest already it's not going to be a good movie even if we bear down and do it. How about all the people who want a movie go to the videos section, get every singe video, and mash them up in Final Cut. Hey, but who needs a life.

it could be done so much quicker if it was an NS go pro edit. All shots have to be done with 720p hero 60fps just for the editors sake. You also dont wanna see different quality shots. Plus theres many other things, and finding somone to do this for free ? Its just not gonna happen again.

i think if there was a strict set of guidelines to follow such as number of clips allowed to be sent in, and what format they must be in, it might all work.

why is everyone bitching about how it failed 2 years ago. 2 years ago kids were killin it half as hard with consumer bought shitty cameras. its called progression and i thought thats what skiing was all about.

It was a ton of effort for Dave@momentskis to coordinate the whole thing. If you want it to happen again, you're going to have to find someone who is willing to put in a lot of time.

what would have to happen, is have people submit a clip of the best trick that they can do. (ONLY 1 TRICK) but have them categorized so that the edit would have good flow. categories would be like, powder/ backcountry, summer setups, park jump/tables, and rails in park

It would never work. First off anybody with decent filming wouldn't be stoked to give their good footage away for someone else to edit. Secondly, there would be a horrible mess of different file types and film settings and lastly. Who the hell would take hours and hours to go through hundereds of gigs of random footage that you have no clue about that was sent to them from random people.
