ive got the beats studio and they blow the skullcrushers outta the water... solos arent that legit theyre just convenient for being portable and the skullcrushers break and are uncomfortable

This guy and the other guy who said to avoid Bose, Beats, and Skullcandy are just about the only people in this thread who know what the fuck they are talking about.

I personally would go with the Grado SR60, because, well for the price, it is the one of the greatest deals on headphones ever.

Word about the Grados.  I want to get a nice pair of Grados this year, since I have a really nice amp and home theater system.  I think I'm gonna cop the 225i's.  For $200 they are great options.

i was actually looking at the over ear extra bass headphones a few days ago
they look sick but i am not sure if i should get the 30 or 40mm size

haters gonna hate. I have both the skullcrushers and dre beats solo hd, and the skullcrushers are miles better - the sound quality is comparable on most fronts and the bass just destroys the beats. They're also more comfortable, as well as noise-cancelling - not to mention 3 times cheaper than solo hd's.

Also, i've kept my skullcrushers by my side wherever i've been these past 6 or 7 months, and there isn't so much as a scratch on them. This included a pretty bad snowpark accident - i came off worse than the headphones did

Beats absolutely. I've gone through countless pairs of skull candies before learning my lesson. The beats sound sick, and build quality is superior.

I have V-moda crossfade LP's. Definitely look into them. They're the same price as the solos but they're a little bigger and a lot more comfortable. Plus I think they look cool and they're made out of metal so they're pretty durable.

I've had these for way longer than I've ever had a pair of skullcandy's. My skullcandy's would always break.

skull candy is the worst crap on the market, they fucking blow. they always break! I think I broke like 10 pairs. they were hookups, im not dumb enough to buy them after all that.

beats break alot. ive had 2 pairs already. but the sick thing is that if they break and its not your fault(blown speaker,one side isn't working exct.) if youve had them for under a year they will just give you a new pair for free.(well at least at best buy)

To OP,
if these are for skiing and you wear a helmet get some of those in helmet audio hookup things, that way you wont compromise your noodle.

if you aren't wearing a helmet then go with the skull crushers out of those two. they are loud have a vibrating bass driver that you can actually hear while skiing. plus they are cheaper.

To all of you saying people comparing these headphones dont know what they are talking about get (Insert overpriced OEM driver headphones) you are the ones who arent thinking this through. high quality sound isnt something to worry about when you are skiing, you already have massive wind noise and the scraping of your edges on the snow/boxes. Find something cheap and loud, that's your best bet. warranty doesn't hurt either.

I have both the beats and skullcrushers. I bought the beats studio versions for $120 instead of $300 and the skullcrushers for $60. Compared in sound quality the beats win by far. If you want bass that will really kick ass, then get the skullcrushers. The bass on the beats is alright but the sound quality if off the charts. The skullcrushers are also soundproof when music is on but they arn't as comfortable. They both are pretty sick so it really depends on your budget.
