Strep or Mono

Supposably i have one. I'm praying for Strep as i leave for college in 3 weeks and want to make the best of it. Also I'm going to michigan with a friend next friday and i assume by then strep would pass through.

Does anybody have any stories or ways they knew they had mono or strep?

If it's only strep you'll only feel bad enough to not do anything for about 3-5 days, won't be contagious after 3 if you get on the antibiotics right away. Strep hurts like a bitch but mono makes it look like nothing.

This. Then you can get on some Antibiotics for what ever you have.

already did. i fainted at cedar point on tuesday, might have been due to heat exhaustion, yet i havent had much of a appetite for 3 or 4 days. its better now. i think its strep which is good cause i dont feel fatigued and im sleeping 16hrs a day yet when im not sleeping i dont feel dead i feel decent. throat feels like i swallowed a entire bag of pop rocks

blood work and cultures for strep come back monday....

Just got over strep. It will be a high fever with a sore throat for the first three or four days. Swollen glands under your cheek bones and a stiff neck feeling. The antibiotics clear it up in like two days.

how long did it take you to get over it from start to end. were you just bed ridden for awhile. ive been waking up just dripping in sweat. might be this hsitty ohio weather

nah dude I was getting cold sweats and waking up sweating and even getting goosebumps out in like 90 degree sun. You've totally got strep.

it started on monday for me, i toughed it trying to beat it on my own, even mountain biking on wednesday. thursday evening I went to the doc and started on amoxicillin. I feel totally fine now, but I gotta finish the antibiotics for another 5 days or so. Your contageous the whole time until you've been on the antibiotics for at least 24 hours.

I have strep right now and I'm on my second day of amoxicillin. I felt awful yesterday and just slept but today I feel fine. I haven't eaten since yesterday though cause it's so hard to swallow. Just drink lots of fluids, you don't want to get dehydrated also

I'm in very close proximity to the dirty jersey. You've got this trust me, or something. It's scientifically proven to to be impossible to visit the state of new jersey and not come away with some kind of ailment. It's usually just a crushed faith in humanity though.

alright well here is how it all went down

monday- lost appetite, just general not 100%
tuesday- went to cedar point. passed out in line for millennium force it was 90 degrees i had my dashiki on and i didnt eat much of anything that day, had the spins hardcore
wednesday- literally spent the whole day sleeping, recovering, major headache and still dehydrated
thursday- wasn't feel as bad as wednesday went to gparents for awhile, still cold sweats and no appetite for 4 days
friday- slept, went to doctor, had blood work done... awesome. not that fatigued. throat feels like i ate a whole box of dry frosted flakes
saturday- slept a fair amount till 2. cold sweats, appetite is sorta back, little bit out of it. its fucking hot out side and inside

I got mono my first semester of college, probably from a combination of staying up late, getting up early, and running about 70 miles a week. I got it with strep too, and it was really bad. There was a couple weeks to go in the semester and it was so bad they sent me home, and I had to take all of my finals the following semester it sucked so much.

I had mono for about 6 weeks and strep for about a week and a half, strep was the worst, I couldn't eat or sleep and I lost 25 pounds because I ate hardly anything for about a week straight. So I was 6ft and 125-130..people said I looked like I just got out of the holocaust /claim. And the mono sucked too, because I couldn't do ANYTHING for those six weeks, like walking/crawling from my bedroom to the couch upstairs did me in for the day no joke. I didn't even have the energy to play video games.

Hopefully yours doesn't turn out too bad, my sister also got it and it only lasted like a week or two and nothing too serious.

I had both about two years ago. Pray that doesn't happen to you, it was awful. I had to take steroids and shit so my throat didn't close.

well the thing is. right now i feel about 80%, im about to go cut the grass, yet ive still got a sore ass throat and cant control my body heat very well, yet i have no fever.

i'll take your mono/strep and challenge it with 6 months sick with pertussis http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pertussis HELL

Yikes that sucks, but my mono wasn't even that long. I've heard some people have gotten it for like 6 months to a year too. I'd hope not as strong though.

yea i know a kid who had it 5 months. sucked. he just never came to school in 8th grade and got all incompletes. haha 6 months with whooping cough was hilarious. i love coughing till you almost pass out.

my friend had the whooping cough for years. they had to remove him fro class cause his coughing was distracting. he would cough constantly, it looked horrible.

mono is awful!! ive had it for most of the summer.
the first week i was really sick! i couldnt swallow anything.
i also had a crazy high fever.
after the first week the symptoms went away but i still have no energy and im always tired.

this is going to get a nice BUMP because........i have mono.

im on my third week of symptoms and im going crazy. started off with a killer headache that knocked me down for about a week then i started to get a really sore throat. went to the doctor and had to do three strep tests and bloodwork to figure out that i had mono. ibuprofen wasnt doing much so i got a couple vicodin from my friend who had surgery over the summer. put me to sleep for a little but i cant get a good nights sleep only naps. i also cant swallow anything so i have been spitting like no other and i would say i have filled maybe a 20 oz coke bottle. i know its disgusting. docs said to just rest and let my body get rid of it. mono sucks......
