That's just taking the easy way out because the last two pages have been almost nothing but useless bickering. I really don't want to read this thread much longer. Maybe 5-10% of the posts have been relevant at all. Just saying it's politics is too cynical/lazy to me because it seems more like most of the people in the thread are for some reason or another just completely leaving out anything of fact or value.

It may be a characteristic of politics but it doesn't negate the fact that most everything in this thread is just garbage. I could make up a scenario about little kids bickering over who get's to be captain in the kickball game or something, and say it's just politics. But it doesn't address the reasons little Billy should be captain and not little johnny. Because little Johnny might be a little prick and Billy is better at kickball. You guys remind me of a group of school children bickering and pushing each other around and not even talking about WHY Billy is the captain. I'm not pointing just one person out, I just forgot it was near impossible to get intelligent responses sometimes.

Haven't you heard? The immigration debate is soooo July 2010. It's all about the mosque now, man.

haha, last I checked it was still 2010. The mosque issue just pisses me off but I did post in that thread too. Two good stories about cartel violence come about within a week so I had to post. Figures half the kids that got involved in this thread won't read any of it anyway and try to make a relevant post. I'm anticipating someone calling me out for getting both links from big bad Fox News though.

Commonwealth im checking it out right now, I'm watching the video now. I'm over halfway through it and it's just retarded. The Daily Show is a form of satire, it's not a legitimate source of news or opinions. It's on Comedy Central for christ's sake. The show is meant for laughs and nothing else. Jon Stewart is in my opinion misguided and makes a living by making his own "spin" off of other news outlets and people actually buy it. I didn't see the full lengths of the clips he drew from but I guarantee they are nothing like Stewart is making them to be. The best news comes from talk radio because even though all of the hosts are either defined liberal or conservative you get to hear people call in and get their view. Also i've found on talk radio you get a more up to date knowledge of what politicians are doing, I have no examples but things that might not even make it to the nightly news.

Hahaha by no means am I saying Comedy Central is the place to go for news, I was simply pointing out your "big bad Fox News" statement because it reminded me of the stupid vs. evil thing.

Oh I wasn't calling you out, I'm just giving my opinion on the Daily Show. Again I'll say Jon Stewart sucks and is super fucking annoying.

I think with regards to Stewart, you have to look at him simply as a TV personality (as with Beck, O'Reilly, Olbermann, Chris Matthews, etc.) They're trying to boost their ratings, that's all.
I personally like Jon, because I feel like he doesn't take himself seriously (as opposed to someone like O'Reilly). Obviously, he isn't going to provide any groundbreaking news coverage, but he doesn't have to. Look at how popular his show is with college students. In fact, I would even go as far to say that the Daily Show has increased awareness in political issues among young adults because of how entertaining the show is...

I see you point as far as "tv personality" goes, but I have to disagree on part two. He may have great ratings and huge amounts of college students as a fan base, but all college students aren't created equal as far as intelligence goes. I know tons of college students who can quote others but are complete fucking retards and abstract thought is something they are incapable of. My point though is that during those videos every time they said something negative about Fox News the whole crowd jeers (obviously Daily Show fans since they're there), but I bet they don't even know why they're booing Fox. People opinions, esp. when it comes to politics are only as good as the info that backs them up. Shows like The Daily Show that bash Fox or other outlets get tons of people to just let the opinion come to them instead of forming it on their own. I like listening to Hannity, Limbaugh, and Savage. I don't always agree with them and often times they take their opinions a bit too far, but the info I get is almost always better than anything on television. Trying to stay on top of politics is like having a second full time job, I can only do it for a month or two at a time and then I just regress.
