***NEED ADVICE!!! 166 or 177 afterbangs???

hey NS'ers! I have a dilemma!! i just purchased 2010 166 line afterbangs but i was wondering whether i should get the 177's instead! i am now about 5' 9" or 5'10" and still got a few inches to grow. i am hoping to have the afterbangs for at least two years hopefully more and i am a beginning intermediate freeskier i guess. i can do 540's and hope to do flips this season and hit bigger 20-~30' kickers. so here are the questions:
-Which size should i go with?
-How would i trade my brand new 166's for new 177's if i need the 177s?

I'm 5'8" and I rode the 177s last year, you need the extra length because they're so soft, they extra length will help prevent washing out on landings (even smaller landings).

dude, you shoulda got the 177's.

casue, they wont let you washout as much on landings. and longer skis are easyier to ride i find.

you are pretty light and begginer intermediate freeskier would make me want to say that the 166 would be absolutely fine. but if you are someone who progresses extremely fast id go with the 177 caus you will want that when you jump up a skill level get a few pounds heavier and a few inches taller.

177 without a doubt. Where did you buy them from? you might be able to send/take them back and exchange them.


I mean, you could make 166's work, but 177 would be much better, especially if you're still growing.

i got them from porterstahoe.com but i cant exchange them for the 177s beecause they only hav the 166's and 155's. i found a site that sells the 177s for 200 so if i got my money back i think i could purchase the 177s but it would be a little complicated.

get the 177's im 5'8'' also and i rep 176 10/11 suspects and it doesnt hurt to have a bigger ski, epecially if ur washing out alot

177 without question, the 166s will feel like snowblades for someone your size

I am about the same height as you and i ride 166 chronics, just bought a pair of 166 afterbangs, I like the shorter ski, its all about what you like. Size doesnt matter, its how you use it lol.

idk if you heard that in a shop but form what i have seen, a lot of shops will tell you to go small. I would say 177 for sure

haha the problem is that i have only been on one pair of twins that were not symmetrical nor center mounted. they are just below my shoulder now in height (idk about the cm's). the only thing i am really worried about the afterbangs is how they will hold up over three years in terms of size and progress and that they wont wash out on my nosepress switch landings haha +K btw for all o yall!

if your growing then they wont last 3 years and it depends on how are you ride but really tho get 177's those skis are soft enough as it is you will need all of the ski you can get if you're 5'9"

They were the first size to sell out from Line this year, in December I think... which means they were the most popular size. A lot of people wanted longer ones too (184 Step Up to the rescue) because they, like most symmetrical skis, feel pretty short.

No question at all. 177. You should be looking for a ski in the 175- 180's range anyway.
