Which Windells Session...

This year I have the opportunity to go to Windells for camp and I was wondering which to choose. I have the option to go the Christmas session or any of the summer sessions. I live on the east coast so I rarely get to ski powder, but I would also like to progress my park skiing. Any suggestions?

ive never gone, but i would pick summer, esspecially if your not paying. You will get to ski in the summer which is awesome in itself, you will get to ski with your favorite pros, and the park might be more legit than your home mountains.

Shoot me a PM. If you live on the east coast, and don't get to ski pow often, I can get you set up to shred pow down here in Argentina for the same price as Windell's.

I am only allowed to go to Windells because South America is sketchtastic... bringing me back to the point of the thread. Which session should I choose?

Valid point, it's just the fact that if you get hurt in a different country it's a total bitch to deal with. And that's a problem because my parents hate the danger aspect of skiing. They think I am deliberately trying to kill myself skiing. I don't care how dangerous it is, I'd love to go to SASS, but it's just not "safe" enough.

I, would choose the summer session. I miss skiing so much in the summer, you have no idea. Having the opportunity to ski in the summer is amazing. You get to ski with pro's , perfect your park skiing in a park that's better than almost every mountains in the winter. It always looks like good times.

Then your other problem about skiing pow. I also live in the east coast. You can still go to Chics-Chocs in Gaspésie. It's an amazing place to go. So much pow :) And you can still manage to hike some hills that haven't been touched where you can get a feet deep of pow.

if i were you i'd go in the summer.

you'll be skiing over christmas break regardless (i assume) so even if it's at a shitty east coast mountain, you'll be skiing. but, on the other hand, if you choose to go in the winter, you're gonna hate yourself when summer comes around and you have no options to go skiing, while you sit at home and watch edits from hood.

go in the summer. skiing east coast winter and summer windells is better than winter windells. it's that simple. you'll double your amount of skiing for the same price.

Plus you skis at 7 Springs(says your profile) which isn't even close to the worst of the East, so even in the winter you'll be hitting some pretty gnarly stuff back home.

I will chime back in with just a few points.

The hospitals in Argentina are top notch. The clinic at the hospital has a full service xray machine and doctors on site, as well as a huge hospital in town. In the few instances where people have gotten hurt, they have been treated well by the medical staff down here. Also, health insurance is available to cover out of country injuries of your policy does not cover it.

Airfare - This can vary. Depending on airline and where you leave from and dates. Expect your round trip to Buenos Aires to be from $600 to $1000. I have seen prices to Whistler run about that...I havent looked at prices to hood.

With SASS, you are getting 2 weeks on snow, our own full park with a dedicated lift (3 jump lines and 12 rail elements as of today) and POW all over.

If your parent's want to talk to us, we can do that as well. Like mentioned, we take safety seriously and take care of anyone who comes down with us.

Yes SASS looks nice. Depends on what you want the most. Park or Pow.

I would go with SASS, looks incredibly cool. (Thank me later SASS, with like 10% of his money :)

but yeah. i'd say that if i were you, i'd be picking between summer SASS or summer windells. it all boils down to what you'd rather have in a camp.

SASS is going to be more big mountain oriented, lots of pow skiing, but still parks to shred in
Windells is park only, with tons of big name pros if you're into that, and tons of free stuff.

Because we have 2 week sessions, any one works well. If you want to ride more park, I say session 2 or 3, since we will have more snow to build with.
There is pow during all 4 sessions. Because we have our own guides, we can go outside the resort boundaries and hike to whatever we want in the side country. Short 10-15 minute hikes open up a ton of terrain to us. All the footage in this podcast was shot in or within 15 minutes of the resort. We will ski untracked for up to a week after a storm.

Just found $1067 out of JFK, nonstop. But it's late in the summer.

Plus, we work with a travel agent who has been doing our flights this year. He has been super good about finding deals. But those we have to get quotes for those.

but plane tickets r sooo expensive to south america... ive heard that it can be like 1100 depending on where you fly from... my trip to windells was 389 roundtrip from manchester NH

after watching all the summer edits i can really say fuck all you rich kids who get to ski. im not really mad im just jealous you kid will get to do something i could never afford to do. i hope you all know how lucky you are.

You get what you pay for sometimes...$389 from the east coast is very cheap to Hood. Plus you have to deal with airport transfers and whatnot. With SASS, we pick you up in BA and take care of you the rest of the way. There isn't anything that can go wrong.

You are going to shred real winter conditions. Cliffs, chutes, bowls and POWWW. It is the sickest summer ski "camp" in the world (though we don't like to be thought of as just a camp). There is a reason almost everyone who comes to SASS (even if they have been to other camps) comes back to SASS.

i didn't read any of the thread, but here's my take on it
if depends on what you're looking for, some of the sessions are really small (1 and 7 mostly) so there won't be a mob in the lane everyday. sessions 3-5 seems to be the most popular and crowded, and the weather is usually the nicest (i think there was one day of clouds during those sessions this summer)
the park is better towards the middle, but it's nice during the earlier sessions because there's more snow and you can lap the lifts easily if your coach wants to do laps not on the private rope tow.

pretty much any session you choose you'll be able to ski a SICK park in the summer and have a ridiculous amount of fun. i'd say it just depends if you're willing to deal with potential bad weather (sesh 1) or low snow levels (which is never too bad, just can't lap lifts) or larger crowds in the lane (mid summer).

but if you want to be part of a huge scene, mid summer would be great. if you're trying to go for a mellower vibe i'd say either of the two first sessions or last two.
