Can we talk about Shark Week for a minute here?

I for one am a little disappointed this year. Oh look, they're swimming with sharks, saw that... 8 years ago. Oh no, now he's got a clown suit on, oh thats different, so crazy man.

And the towing of the rubber seal or whatever... we saw that shit three years ago, a great white clearing the water is fucking awesome, but seriously, been done. Oh what, so the seal got bitten in half this year, whoop dee do, I guess those teeth are actually pretty sharp.

Come on Discovery, you're better than this. Dont force me to watch reruns of Iron Chef on such a hyped up week.

well i think its been around so long they start to run out of the usual "lets jump in and get bit" "lets watch them jump out of the water with slow mo cameras" "hey watch me get shark samples and get totally stoked" the only way they are going to get good is if they get some footy of great whites mating.

I can think of a few that would make it awesome again.

Show idea 1: How pissed off can we get a shark?

Show idea 2: How pissed off can we get another type of shark?

Show idea 3: Put a go-pro on a shark, see through the eyes of a pissed off shark.

Show idea 4: Piss off Mike Rowe, get him to piss of sharks.

They actually did attach a camera on a shark in one show and it was pretty cool. There was also a show about sharks in rivers. That was new. Don't worry next year they will have a new assortment of shark attack stories.

Shark Week is definitely lame. I was never a fan. Where the hell did all the bandwagon fans come from this year? A bunch of chicks who probably ride MTV's dick were all over Shark Week on Facebook. What the hell? You suck at school, but you are amped up about an eductional/entertainment week of programming. I'm sure they watched one episeode and realized it wasn't what they thought it was. They should do a myth week instead. Or a dirty week. Either would be so money.

Posted it in the shark week thread...

It was definitely a let down this year. Very repetetive and very little that was truly new and ground-breaking.

The best show was the River Monsters episode about the bull sharks in the river.

Discovery Channel hit the mark far better Sunday with Speed of Life slow motion.

I said it before it began this year and everyone gave me shit. Shark week in the 20th century has sucked big time. Its all about the "dangerous" sharks and having someone go in and swim around with them or watch great whites jump out of the water.

Back in the 90's, shark week was all about conservation, information, and less of this "wow factor" nonsense. Shark week back then was all about the sharks and not stupid shit like great whites jumping out of the water and people's horror stories of shark attacks. This is why i no longer watch shark week. I have all the shark weeks during hte 90's on tape and i watch them from time to time. Its much better
