Im looking to start doing a little long boarding. i have absolutely no idea what im doing and i was wondering how much it would cost and what kind of board i should get. something cheap because i have no idea if im going to like it or not

I have a Sector 9, got it a long time ago. Looking back it was a little overpriced for what I got, but I still liked it. I've heard good things about kracked skulls(sp?) but maybe if you are unsure, borrow a friends board or buy one cheap off Craiglist/NS.

just go to west49 or a skate shop that sells them, that's what i did I started out like 3 weeks ago after picking up one at west49 for the fun of it, If I were you i'd just go in an ask someone working there, chances are they probably ride if they are working at a skate shop and they will be able to hook you up with some info on what board to get for your style/interest.

I have a loaded dervish... I was in the same boat as you and got mine last week!! I love it man, I can bomb down hills and cruise (i longboard to work everyday 6 k there and back) I bought mine through: www.thelongboardstore.com which has tons of sick boards and complete setups (i upgraded my bearings to some swiss bones)

I would highly recommend it!! and also I got flex 1 which is the heavier flex... though only 155 and scrawny build I wanted it more stiff so It would be more beneficial as a cruising board (not losing speed on the flex)

+1 for thelongboardstore.com Sector 9 isnt very respected, but they do make good boards for the money. They will run you about 130 - 150. If you wanna spend more like 170-200+ look at companies like rayne, landyachtz and kebbek.

Get abec 11 Flashbacks for wheels, bones reds bearings and randal trucks, no matter what board you choose. That stuff is much better than the stock Sector 9 stuff.

search bar this shit You'll find quite a bit o' information on different boards for different purposes. then when you decide what your gonna be doing on it, you'll already have that thread to refer to for great options

look into bustin boards. my two friends have the maestro its great for bombing hills, tricks, and some cruising. i have the spliff and bombs hills, cruises great, but doesnt have a kick tail so i cant really do tricks. bustin makes great quality boards and you can custom make them on their website.

if youre looking into longboarding, i think it is super fun. i use it as transportation a lot, but still enjoy ripping hills and carving. my first board was a sector 9, and it was pretty good for the price. i recently upgraded to a dervish, and i love it so much. if you know that you love longboarding a ton already, maybe go for a bit pricier board so that you wont need to upgrade when you become a better rider, but if you are just starting to try it for the first time i recommend going with a sector 9 board or something easy to start on. doing research on boards is key, do lots of it. it will pay off.

If you want a cheap board with good parts, I would go with Kracked Skulls or TLS. Both decks are very good, but are blank. If the blank deck bothers you, you should check out Landyachtz. All of their boards are mad legit and fun to ride.

a decent longboard is prob gonna be around 200 and i don't think iv'e seen anyone who can honestly say they hate longboarding. But you kinda need some decent hills around you too cause you don't wanna just be pushin

probably one of the best "bang for your buck" type board is the Kracked Skulls Scimitar. I have had mine for about half a year, sickest board I'v ridden, I like it more than some loaded boards.
