Good cars to bum in?

im looking for a good car to ski bum in for a year. or so.

ive been looking at the subaru outback hatchback.

any other ideas or anything that people know of? apreciate the help, and yes i searchbared, and theres poop for info.

also good resorts that people know of would help to.

Well the best car in my personal experience is a ford ranger with a box cover. You just get a good winter sleeping bag and a matress and are good to go.

Any SUV with removable seats and a roof box is great. I spent almost 40 nights living out of a Range Rover with one other person a couple seasons ago and it wasn't too bad. The season before, I ski bummed in my Camry for ten days, and it was utterly miserable. The bigger the vehicle, the better.

as long as it's not tiny you'll be fine. i love my subie, i've bummed in it for short periods of time and it's great. the back seats fold down all the way, it is awesome in sketchy weather, and doesn't give off the same rapist vibe as a van. in fact, the ladies tend to take a liking to it.

the bigger the better man. you want as much room as possible. so imo i would go with a VW bug.

ive slept in my dodge durango many times, fucking not bad with sleeping bag etc. suburus dont go completely flat so you would have an interesting shaped back after a year of sleeping in a car day after day of skiing

In summer i'm a scubadiver and in our club there's a guy who makes almost 200 dives/year and basically lives at the coast.....

he has bought a large van, put a large bed right behind the 2 seats, behind the bed, a living area with a bench, table, tv, stove, cooking table, sink, etc...
underneath he attached a water container that can be heated; when he comes out of the water after a dive he can attach a garden hose to that container and take a hot shower :)

+ he has a sunscreen that can be extended from the side of the van so they can chill outside :)

quite an epic van, much larger and comfier than a VW van, thats gonna go at least 10k to begin with, while he spent 12k on everything....

also make sure the van can be vented properly, sleeping inside a cold vehicle will cause lots of condense and make everything humid/moldy ....
^^the guy has 2 small side windows and installed a window in the roof ....

CHEVY ASTRO VAN - AWD. PERIOD.

Cheap. Gets through anything, you can stand up inside it when you wake up in the morning, and you can make it into a free candy mobile if it has no sidewall windows.

no other choice.

My Honda Odyssey is pretty awesome to sleep in since its completely flat in the back, pull out the 2 middle chairs and you can stretch out real nice, I could make some little cabinets for it as well

hell yea, my fam has/ has had two awd astros and two awd safaris since the early 90's. to this day 3 of the 4 are still on the road while the fourth is in a better place.

Likely not... If it looks more construction-like, they might assume it's some contractors van or truck rather than some ski bum's car...

If you have a bright red subaru like me, without tinted windows and with a thousand stickers on it, you're probably going to get a few questionmarks from resort folk if they are not cool with people chillin in their parking lot overnight than if you had a plain coloured van.
