When will skiing peak?

There is going to be a point in skiing when there is nothing more that can be done. A lot of pro's weren't stoked on triples. When do you think skiing will peak? I'm thinking end of 2012 season.

It only peaks when you give up on progression and the sport. It will never peak new styles new people endless possibility. as long as its fun it wont stop

instead of going "bigger" and doing more spins, triples, etc. i think that it may head in andy parry's direction and get more creative. as long as skiers have imaginations, there will never be an end to progression.

The tricks will slow down, and then the contest makers will have to figure out a way to make more technical, creative features that are harder to trick. That way it wont just be a big jump that you have to triple to win, but maybe a stepdown hip or something ridiculous. There's only so much that you can do off a normal jump, but put something more creative there, and you are able to add a lot more technicality and style.

It's kinda hard to say.  I think technicality wise it's really not that far off.  Quads will happen, like in ariels, but they will never become common.  I'm glad to see most people aren't so naive as to think skiing will never die because sadly it will.  Skiing has been around for a relatively short period of time, and there will come a point where it is obsolete.  Hopefully that day is far off, as there is far more to skiing than technicality.  With that in mind I do believe that a 1980 would be possible with a grab if the jump were built for maximum air time.  That's what everyone wants to see isn't it???

No..Maybe its been around for a short amount of time relative to the Earth's creation, but 6,000 years is pretty damn long for a sport to have been around. Also, how can a recreational sport become obsolete?..Its not a fucking computer. People do it for fun, which will never become obsolete. The only way skiing will end is if there is no more snow on Earth (In which case humans will probably cease to exsist anyways).

skiing will never peak there will always be biggger jumps more run in speeds steeper landings and a person that is willing to go big enough. and also with how fast equipment is progressing the easier it will be to do crazy shit. mabye it will turn into wirly bird shit but someone will always progress the sport that much further.

I think our sport is limited only by the size of the jumps we can build.  After watching some of the trailers for this year I'd say we just opened up a new chapter.

Someone will always be better than someone else.  Trick wise, I think its going to slow down like a lot of action sports have.  However, the sport will never die or become less popular.

He was exactly who came to mind. The entire line team i feel is an amazing model for what it takes to have progression, creativity to come up with an idea that is different from the norm and then the skill to bring that idea to the snow.

I think there will always be progression... Even if its better style, bigger air, or more combos, look at some of the oldest sports, running or golf. These athletes are continually breaking world records. However a lot of these advancements are made possible by new technology. Look at the twin tip. Skiing was almost at declining stage but the twin tip ski really revitalized the sport an introduced hundreds of new factors. 20 years ago no one would have dreamed of skiing backwards or landing switch for that matter.

Skiing peaks every day for me, then the next day I go it peaks again.  Everyday is better than the last.

On the aggregate though skiing will never peak, that's like saying when will technology peak

theres so much more progression

obviosly with triples  and people with do bigger spins as well

also dubs : switch dub lincoln, dub underflip  , dub 1800 loads

also creative stuff will start to come into contests more like butters of jumps and taps and shit

and grabs such as screamin seamens but tweaked for example mute

Come on guys. I mean Park skiing is cool and i give respect to those that are good at it. but i'd rather throw a backflip off a cliff then off a jump.

Who knows when freesking will die, but skiing is only going to get more popular for just normal skiing. Every year the mountains just get crowded and more crowded

Park skiing will reach its peak eventually but skiing won't I'll always ski no matter what. I love skiing and well, i don't park ski that much anyways, i like back country more. It makes me feel free, and skiing in pow will never reach a peak
