people were saying b-paul is on armada but on his website salomon is still listed under his sponsors and it says he endorses armada skis and pole what does this mean?

For correctness, this is a brake for some atomic FFG style bindings (maybe some salomon as well). They are very similar to Salomon brakes except for the plastic bit around the screw. With a grinder you can shave off a bit of the plastic and make them fit with Salomon bindings though.

Questions all pertaining too last years Surface Double times: Are the bases sintered or extruded?
Would they be too stiff for me (about 135 pounds, 5'9, kinda a noob, 50/50 park all mountain)
Also, do they measure short or long?

depends what you're skiing. If you're skiing just park, they'd probably be a little stiff, but if you're skiing all around, you'd pull them off fa shao. I wish I had an 8 for all mountain (granted I'm 175).

But flex is mostly a matter of preference.

I have an XXL from both years.

The 09/10 is a lot wider and a bit taller. I'd say width is the bigger difference.

so i just had some park skis mounted, and they put the dins at 9-10. to me that seems a little low. i am a type 3 skier, aggressive, and im 6-4, just above 200 pounds. are my dins too low? also i have look pivot 140s if it makes any difference.

honestly, it's almost personal preference. most shops can't set your DIN any higher than that because if you hurt yourself they could potentially be liable. i'm about your size (20 lbs. less) and ride my park skis around 10-11. i know kids that weigh 40 lbs. less than me and ride their skis 4+ clicks higher than me.

go ski a few laps, if you notice yourself popping out and prereleasing then bump them up. i'd leave them there for now though, because 9-10 is relatively high and depending on who you ask that could be dangerous.

2 questions

1. i'm 5'6, 150 pounds (not bragging but it's muscle not fat, that's important for this question i believe), type 3 skier who skis park and hits 10-40 foot jumps. what should my din's be at? i have 165 cm, 2010-2011 armada el reys with head mojo 11's on them, center mounted.

2. is a center mounted ski mounted in the lengthwise center of the ski, or mounted on the central balance point of the ski? aka, is being center mounted based on length measurement or weight measurement?

1. i'd say around 7 to 8.

2. true center=the literal perfect center of the ski, front to back. (hopefully that makes sense)
core center=exactly what it says, the center of the core of the ski. depending on the ski dimensions thats anywhere from dead center (on a symmetrical ski) to about 8 back behind true center.

just a quick follow up question, i just bought armada el reys (last years model), and they are close to but not symmetrical (they're something like 119-83-109, the 164 cm ones), if i want them center mounted i'm assuming i should go with the core center, and not the true center?

basically just curious as to the benefits and downfalls of mounting a non-symmetrical ski at the true center

If I were you I'd mount them core center. Mounting them true center may feel weird with different weights. You may also feel too forward on the skis. Unless you are doing just as much switch riding or more as you are forward mount them core center. also, I don't think that there is much of a difference in core center and true center on the el reys, so I'd just mount them core center, which I'm assuming is the recommended mounting point.?

yeah i told the guy i wanted them center mounted and he just assumed i meant core so i should be all set

what helmets fit well with oakley crowbars? i tried the holt park/holt and that combo didn't really work (in my opinion), apparently the maze works well with crowbars but i haven't been able to try one on yet...

anybody who owns crowbars could you do me a huge favor and post up a picture of your goggle/helmet/beanie/facemask setup? i'd really appreciate it just to get an idea of how certain combinations look

on ski bindings what the hell is a friction pad?

sent my skis in to get tuned up and the guy is claiming that there are no friction pads and that i need to pay extra to buy new ones....

He could be talking about the AFD. Which just helps your boot slide out better.

And I would highly suggest you buy them if you dont have them. AFD stands for anti friction device btw.

yeah i did some research and found that out

from what i can tell the AFD is the little pad attached to the front part of the binding right?

i brought in the skis and gave them to the guys and they were like okay regular tune up no problem, then got a call today (3 days later) saying the skis were missing AFD's and they needed to order new ones. now i'm no binding expert but wouldn't you notice just from looking at the skis/bindings that the AFD's were gone? and is it possible for them to break off without taking the bindings off?

i've never taken off the bindings and the only issue i've had with them is the part that holds the front grove of the boot off has rotated 90 degrees once, gave it a little stomp though and it popped back into place. i would've noticed if something had popped off the ski when that happened

Yes you would nprice from looking that they were gone. It's odd that both aren't there though, I've usually only see one break or go missing. Either way, replace them , it's a safety issue and they aren't that expensive

Depends on the binding. You shouldn't have to replace the whole toe piece, if that's what you're getting at as it's usually a separate and replaceable part.

if i wear my goggles underneath my helmet and only a balaclava underneath, will my ears get cold? i dont wanna lose any warmth by taking the earpads off but its more comfortable that way

Do you like a stiffer or softer ski? If you like the stiffer side, the chronic cryptonites are great, look at will wesson he slays. Afterbangs are softer but I dunno how keen you are on the skate deck technology.

Hey guys I'm kinda stuck on this one. Ok so heres the deal, I want to buy some of this years Atomic Punx, but I'm not sure if 182cm will be too long, and 173cm might be too short. I am 5'10, 16 years old, and probably 145 lbs and a very aggressive skier, not sure which one too pick. Any help would be awesome!

I'd go with the 182s bud. If you're 16, odds are you're going to get a little bit taller. Plus longer skis look sicker anyway.
