Exchanging a broken xbox 360 for a PS3

Last year my brother had we exchange our ps3 for an xbox 360 because of the bigger online play. Everything was fine because I rarely had to pay for the little online cards. So fast forward to this spring, we have a huge thunder storm that actually wipes out our ip adress and all of those codes needed to go online. So I have put in all the codes that i am relatively sure are correct but the online still doesn't work. So my brother has been telling me to just go get it fixed for the past 4 months and finally he decides that he going to buy the new xbox for college. So my question is do you all think that i can exchange this xbox with all of the games in for a brand new ps3?
Sparknotes: The online portion of my xbox wont work do you think i can exchange it for a PS3?
Ps. Dont turn this into a ps3 vs. Xbox debate

If you don't mind using a PS3 I don't see why not. You won't have to pay for online which is a bonus.

You're going to have to pay for the difference. There's no way Gamestop is going to give you full price for your 360 - broken or perfect.

if gamestop does this like it does any other trade/exchange, your xbox is probably worth $8. If it was brand new, maybe $10.
I stopped using gamestop after, just as a test, i bought a brand new game from them for $60 (gta4 actually, which i wanted to keep anyways) and went back the next day to see what it would be worth as a trade in. $10. For a game i had bought less than 24 hours prior. Like i said, i had no intention of returning or swapping it, but i wanted to test their trade in system, and it's an absolute rip off.

do you understand how much the value of the old 360s dropped the day the new ones came out? you'll be lucky to get half the cost of a ps3

Kinda figured that but i thought maybe with all the games i had I could get a ps3 and then pay for a game. I don't feel right selling it on ebay to some kid if there is something wrong with it which i'm not certain there is and that it can't be fixed.

but you feel right selling it to gamestop? you do know someone will buy it just like on ebay. just send it to microsoft and get it fixed, then sell it. and this should be a lesson to you to always use a surge protector for your electronics

Yes i feel fine selling it to gamestop because they're a huge company that as said above rips kids off. And yeah ive got a serge protector now.
