Book with enterprise for car rental. Cheapest place in SLC 3 out of 3 times now. If you are under 25 and are subject to the underage driver fee. don't fret.

This thread here has the coupon code for that as well. Browse fatwallet.com for AAA discount codes as well, and check for any last minute deals. Also check the cost of vehicles, A LOT. I've seen the price fluctuate just like an airplane ticket. Thing is, you can book it, and cancel it with no fee. The only thing in your vacation that you an do that with (haha @ costs of rebooking / cancellation fees of hotels / airfare)

You can save more by getting your car away from the airport. but than you gotta figure out how to get to and from the airport, for the amount of money you save doing that (which isn't enough to justify it in my opinion unless you have a generous NS'er who is driving you from the airport to the car rental place)

Go to canyon sports for lift tickets. if you know people who work at ski resorts you can get lift tickets for cheap (them making money off their free ticket) if not free.

Don't buy an SUV for fear of massive snow dumps and road closure. If you are from the east, its another world driving up LCC / BCC and even going on I-80 in a snowstorm and seeing accident after accident. But you can make it, and if you can't. Bus fee up the canyon is $7.50 round trip. plus you don't pollute as much if you use city transportation.

avoid rental all together and stay on 7200 s or fort union blvd and use the utah transit system for everything to get up the canyons. although you will not be anywhere near park city.

there is no cheap hotel in park city in comparison to SLC. The drive is like 30 minutesish. I give up on cheap hotels in PC. But you can find people who will let you couch surf / rent a room even in the Kimball Junction / PC area if you are very determined to stay in PC on the cheap.

Food, now you can check out the fabulous fast food places you might not have ever seen before (in-n-out, 5 guys burger, carls jr, sonic, chik-fil-a, chipotle, etc). Or you can use restaurants.com , and if you google up coupons for restaurants.com you can get $25 gift certs...80% off. you have to have a minimum order, but the places usually are upscale anyways. long story short. you can eat like $50 worth of food for $30ish including tip.

No im not a sponsored famous athlete who needs to give shout outs to holiday inn, restaurants.com, enterprise, or any shit above. just my observations on how to get shit done cheap.

Thats about it. I say NS'ers should post up how to ski cheap at all kinds of areas. Whistler, Jackson, Tahoe, Bozeman.

iv got tired of seeing all the how to trip utah threads hahaa so this is cool to see nice post. but usually couch surfing here is pretty easy pay someone in beer or other stuff and if you come here come for a month rent out a room and get a small night job its worked out well for alot of people.

also: hitchhiking up/down little and big cottonwood canyon is really easy and most people will stop and give you a ride

If you craigslist search for a certain house. there is a chick there who runs the house. she rents rooms for $300 / mo + util out of kimball junction. it is a big house in KJ that houses 10 people or so at any given time. if you move in there, you will be living with lifties / workers from PC area resorts.

Since im not here to give that name out, im going to just say check craigslist for park city rental and if there is space available, you will find her posting on there. for yes $300 + util (which was like $40). you can probably get them to agree though to stay for just one week out out of a month and shit.

im just saying. i use these tactics in this thread and i get away going to SLC for $388 airfare, $299 rental, $454 holiday inn. + lift tickets / food. and this is for 7 full days of skiing and 2 partial days where the arrival / departure is just so that you can actually get to brighton for night skiing, and ski the AM until 1-2 PM, and then change and get on a flight.

if you manage to find someone to rent a room to you, the cost saving possibilities are endless. because they will be local, and if they work at a resort they can get you cheap lift tickets. craigslist will be your friend there, or hell even NS...but yeah one trip to SLC was just super cheap thanks to some locals in off-season.

Don't expect locals to just hand over their free lift tickets to tourists. Locals dislike it when joey tourists come up and try and ask where to get free or cheap lift tickets. So you probably should...go to bars on main street in park city. you'll find people selling lift tickets for cheap (working at resorts, looking for tourists to sell their free passes to). this tactic has only ever worked in park city, where the demographic is "skier", and everyone is either working or vacationing there at that moment. so you have to figure 1/8 people you see are really locals at any given moment. go to the right bar and fuckin 3/4th the people are local.

the thing is, they get free tickets, but its not like they have endless supplies of them. so they obviously save these for friends / family already.
