Rail advice

so i built a summer setup drop in and all that im using a 4 inch round pvc pipe .. but i suck really bad at rails .. should i build a rail thats more flat to learn like maybe 1 inch pvc 3 or 4 next to eachother mounted on a 2x4 ...whats the best way to learn ??Click for larger image

a wider rail might be easier, but you can just keep hitting this one. practice will make you better. the more you try, the better you will get. pretty obvious but it's true.

best way to learn is practice, practice, practice! A wider one will help improve your balance and learn new tricks. If you took five 1.5" PVC pipes and put them next to each other that should be a wide enough rail/box to learn new stuff, but it won't be too wide were it actually makes it too hard to grip the sides of the rail with the edges of your skis.

Yeah get like 4 1 inch pvcs and make a box out of that. You will learn loads and then you can practice on the rail. You could also make it a little higher off of the ground as well.

You do realize that you just suggested a rail that is skinnier than the one he is currently using, right?

4 one inch PVC pipes next to each other is 3 inches if sliding width, where as right now he has 4 inches of sliding width.

shit my bad. I thought the OP said he was using two 4 inch pvc pipes. Disregard that last post.

On another note... it's really hard to learn stuff on a single barrel. Definitely put a few PVC pipes down next to each other for better balance.

ive got the same pipe expect mines bigger, 3" i believe. i couldnt do anything but big boxes than this summer i practiced on it cause it was all i had and i got really good on pipes

i have a 4 pvc pipe wide rail (1.5inch each) and a two pvc pipe wide one, works great to learn on the wider one then get tricks down in the skinnier one

No big, actually, yeah probably get 4 pvcs a little bigger than 1 inch.

keep what you got its good practice my friends has one and i use it all the time, and i personally thing that the pvc is harder to do then an actuall ski rail

You might want to make it a double barrel rail because that would be easier to balance on.  But trust me, getting good at rails just takes a TON of commitment and hard work.  I have been practicing super hard starting last summer and it really pays off.  During the season I got all the basic rail tricks and this summer I learned K-feds already.

ya ur right i think im gonna just get a nother four incher and put them together.. cus its just frustrating falling everytime .. gets old but i think once i can get the feeling of slidding then take on balancing on something round ..
