Skiing - either Remarks and Coronet are your options, but dont worry about the later cause its pretty much the family mountain with not a single terrain feature this year. Remarks is the shit, awesome parks, and awesome runs if your prepared to hike a bit.
Transport - free bus up both of these mountains if you have a pass, or hitch NZ promotes it, less cars on the road = less emissions etc
Queenstown - checkout southern laughter hostel, talk to jim, reasonably cheap, rooms w tv, own kitchen, fridge etc, and FREE outdoor SPA, which is bomber after a day up the hill
Lift tix are F'd this year, cant swapp or get cheapies cause of the new photo system, Get yourself a student card off the net, will save you 20 bucks a day every day, otherwise possibly a mid week season, but if your only there for 2 weeks...
Definetly checkout wanaka, cardrona and TC are a total step above any skiing youll get in QT and theyre only an hour away
my buddy works in the Information centre so if you want any discounts on bungi or milford sound trips etc PM me and ill send u his details
oh yeah dont forget a round of frisbee golf in the arv in the QT park!
bumbles hostel in queenstown... ~$25 NZD a night. super clean and friendly. if you stay there you sleep in their sheets too, so no worries about bringing a sleeping bag. (extra space for you. most places will charge for using their linens.) I didn't get lice or anything either from using their sheets and I stayed there for 2 nights.
check out some stuff other than skiing too. you're there for 2 weeks and when else are you gonna be in NZ? spend the money you would on skiing going to the milford or doubtful sound or go bungy jumping. there's so much do to do in NZ, especially in/around that area. don't limit yourself.
so what are these student cards? does it have to be a NZ student card or can i show mine from the states?
