Anybody know anything about locks?

Hey guys. I needed a desk for school in the fall so I decided to head to a yard sale with a couple of friends. So when I was there I found a sick desk that the person wanted 25 for. I haggled him down to 20 bucks and bought it. I noticed that there was a compartment on the top that had a lock on it. I ask the guy if he had a a key for it so I could store my weed, passport, and other important stuff. Unfortunately he didn't but I figured o well its still a sick desk for cheap.

Anyways my question to you guys is do you know of a way for me to make a key or have some other way to lock the cabinet? I would like to keep it pretty cheap and generally easy to do. Its not too big of a deal but it would be nice to have the cabinet lock functional

If you really want it opened and don't want to fuck up the actual lock, take it to a locksmith.

chances are its not a very complex lock. with the right tools and knowledge you could probably pick it pretty easily. just google lockpicking and you'll learn some stuff. you can use a bobby pin as a pic and the metal clip from a bic uniball vision pen as a tension wrench. other than that i'd say maybe a locksmith could take a look and make you a key but that might be costly/impossible. worth a shot though.

I lol'ed. I only WISH i could crack safes. I think I may have to pick it up this winter. Locks are fun, but investing in quality tools is expensive and combo locks are where the money's at.

some kid figured out how to crack combo locks at my school, leaving your stuff in the lockerroom was a risk after that
