Right now I work in the financial services industry (private equity) and I love it. I find all of it fascinating, especially risk calculations.
Here are the pluses and minuses as I can see them.
It seems like econ might teach more valuable "hard science" skills. Which really need to be learned in a classroom vs a lot of "business" skills which can be picked up on the job.
Everyone and there mom has a business degree.
I'll probably end up going for an MBA (but who knows right now) down the road, seems like a business bachelors might make for a bit of redundant instruction.
Downsides of an econ is that I have no interest in academia nor policy which seems to be where this degree leads.
So, anyone been in this situation? Anyone currently in this situation? A quick google search shows that I'm miles away from being the first person to ask this question.
