I don't smoke pot, but the entire war on drugs needs to end. The more money they throw at it, the more drugs are on the street. All it does it get criminals rich and put sick people in jail.

Well I'm from Canada, possession (less than 1 oz) of pot was taken out of the criminal code a few years ago. But there's still work to be done.

I don't like when people refer to people who choose to use marijuana as users. The term "Users" has a negative conotation of being an addict. When I got suspended from school back in prep school way back when, they asked me "how long i had been using pot for" to which i responded that i had SMOKING pot for a couple years.

i know first hand that that isnt true... i got caught with 1 gram of weed and they were gonna charge me with posession. they also thought i was trying to steal a motor cycle (i was but it was my friends so he bailed me out) so they wernt kind to me

in Canada, or atleast Ontario, you're allowed to possess 30 grams and all that will happen is you will be charged. plus cops are pretty lax about weed and if your not acting like an idiot or aren't totally blatant about it, you're good.

All of the Canada statues are lowering the priority of marijuana. None of them make it legal to possess. It only makes your chances better of not being charged. They have the same statue within the city limits of Seattle under 40g is a misdemenor but cops must make it there lowest priority, so you end up being let go a lot.

But there is no country in world, including the Netherlands in which possession is tecniquely legal.

 Even in the city of Amsterdam marijuana is illegal to possess or sell. You can get manufactures licences. If you produce for patients or current coffee shops. But the city will not issue business licenses for new coffee shops and that is the only public environment in which it is legal to get high recreationaly because they are serving you and the tourism revenue is too immense to consider shutting down the exsisting ones

In reference to Ontario specifically i believe the province has decriminalized pot so it is a civil infraction (only incuring a fine) but that not legal,
In my opinion

Decriminalization= Huge fiscal benifits. Less proliferation of crime by imprisoning people who otherwise would never be criminals. Get huge amounts of non-violent offenders out of the prison system. And generate revenue through fines without having to charge the person and cover paying for their legal process.

Legalization- May have some of the same benifits but it would also result in massive taxation (all sin taxes fall under my opinion of "without representation) and corporate style production. And higher prices / lower quality unless you know a grower. The mass producers will do what creates the most costs the least and clean piff ass trees will skyrocket in price.

Just the intial licensing, insurence, taxes and large scale competison will make prices go up and drive small growers who make the fire out.


Its always made me laugh that Liberals want pot legalized but throw tantrums about mono-crop farming and corporate greed/control.   I guess a new tax is a new tax and we all know taxes are Liberal crack

I disagree with that statement. Pot will be decriminalized soon. Unfortunately after the billions benefits if a lowered drinking age are realized and it's passed we will all be well over 21.

They will never lower the drinking age on a federal level. We are fucking responsible for subsidizing the health of every idiot in this country. For christ sake  they are putting sin taxes on soda and fatty snacks to protect their investment. Soon we will all have mandated approved ingestables to minimize our chances of filing claims  ahhaha  I can see it now Ingestables Czar

first off, awesome icon. Second, yeah i totally agree that it won't change on a federal level. . . . i think some state is gonna go bad ass and lower it and the fedral gov will pussy out on cutting their highway (whatever else) funding like the original plan went.

I dont know which but there are a few states which maintain under 21 laws for consumption you just can't buy it
