I rode the threats when my shop had my skis for repairs and they were fun for all mtn but really werent anything special in the park.
And I havent seen anything yet that would make me not want abangs. other than the fact that theyre too buttery for me. But I'm not sure what the kid above means by semi sidewall... Its a sidewall... Maybe hes talking about how the wood just kinda creates it. Definately look at this years "step-up" though. If I'm not mistaken its just a bigger, stiffer afterbang.
same dimensions, but the step up comes in 166, 177, 184 instead of 155, 166, 177.
I've haven't ridden threats but I've never met anyone that has anything good to say about them. I also dont particularly like to support salomon after my suspects fell apart so quickly. I have ridden abangs, and wasn't really impressed. they just felt very unresponsive to me, but that's a preference thing. However, for or a price point ski I think the afterbang is definitely the way to go.
I have 4frnt TNKs (or at least I did til my shop ruined them. I'm not sure what ski they got me yet) and I really like them. I havent had them long enough to tell how dourable they are though. Theyre my first sidewall ski and I can tell you that theyre so much more playful than cap. And there isnt much sidecut so you can carve pretty hard and not lose an edge like I used to always do on my old skis. Theyre pretty cheap right now so that would be something to look at.
Sidewalls are typically vertical "walls" of differing material, which bring torsional stiffness and durability to a ski. They do, however, raise the price typically.
The Afterbangs, on the other hand, aren't constructed with normal sidewalls, as the ski is skate constructed, and the walls are made of wood on top of each other.
Ya I figured you knew what you were talking about and I just mistook something. But most of the flex (pretty much all of it) is based on the core if I'm not mistaken.
go with tha aftabangs. so much more advanced and durable and they butter so nicely. i would choose them over any other ski any day. but thats just my style
Ya no big deal bud. The stiffness comes from a ton of things, though I'm not 100 percent sure. Rowen or iffy would know exactly. I believe it's from core, stringing across said core, sidewalls, and top sheet laminates
