Your thoughts on B+W and Chroma Limits in skis edits.

Title pretty much says it all, I'm working on an edit right now, and I want to try and use some B+W shots and some limit on chroma shots (when just one color shows and the rest is black and white - I know most of you probably already know that though) and I want some opinions on what you guys think. I'm only planning to use it for like 3 or 4 shots, and not for the entire shot. Let me know what you think.

when used sparingly and creatively- creates a good  variation of shots as well as an interesting addition to the edit
when used too much and poorly- incredibly annoying and revolting

you have more to lose than you have to gain if you're not sure you can pull off the effects well

but the gain is still a good one if you can pull it off

Personally, I don't like black and white shots. A chroma shot would be dope if you're artistic enough. It could make an excellent intro

Selective coloring is still selective coloring no matter how you label it.

Yeah I rarely see a selective coloring shot that looks good, I think myspace, youtube and flickr (photowise anyway) have ruined it for me with all the noobs doing it. I like black and white if it's processed well and fits the mood/whatever else.

I actually love the look of black and white for surfing, sometimes it's cool for skiing too. See this edit for what I mean by well processed and fitting the mood. That also shows that it can be mixed with color. Usually I don't see why people throw a black and white in the middle of a bunch of color out of nowhere.
