Hey NS, I don't know if this is quite "callout worthy" but I'm having an issue with another member and a transaction we had. Basically, way earlier this summer I bought an ipod off of Mr_-K. I went off to Nicaragua, and it didn't arrive by the time I left, which was fine because I had another ipod for the trip, but it was there when I got back, which I was happy about.
When I got back, I listened to his music for a day because I liked some of it before I wiped it clean to sync my music and movies on. I plugged it into my computer, restored it, and had no problems getting it started. I went to do something, and when I came back to the computer there was an error message (-69). It had loaded about 1600 of my songs on, but wasn't able to get the rest on. I thought, "oh, no big deal, I'll try it again." I was wrong. The ipod consistently got error messages while trying to sync, and would generally wipe all of the music that was supposed to be put onto it off when I unplugged it.
Finally, I've had enough. I text him (at least 90% of our communication was via text) and told him what was up. He says that it was working fine when he sent it to me, and I trusted him. I take it into the apple genius bar, and they put it into recovery mode and tell me to try that, and come back if I still have issues. Well, it still won't work, and I come back and they say that the hard drive is on its way to dying, and will not work correctly again. At this point, I just want my money back.
So I text him and tell him, and he's not having it. He claims that it worked when he sent it to me and that it should still work. Regardless, it doesn't work, and I want my money back. He says "oh, I don't want the ipod back because the genius bar opened it up." At this point, I'm just pissed. I go on a rant saying that no, the ipod was never opened up, and that I want my money back or I will call him back. He tells me to post the thread. His last text says, "U are going to post a thread about me selling u a perfectly good ipod and when u got it u had it taken apart and the harddrive is almoust out of battery that's not fucking my fault but by all means go ahead and post the thread u will look like the bigger idiot."
I told him that it was not taken apart. I told him I will go to the apple store again, voluntarily, and interview someone at the genius bar saying that 1. the ipod was not taken apart, and 2. the hard drive is malfunctioning and that it will never work again.
I just want my $55 back. Here's the chat history we had since I got the ipod. I know it's not a lot, again most of the talking happened via text, but bear with me. Read from bottom to top.

like, i've read that, and a bunch of stuff about it all over the internet.
I restored the ipod, and renamed it and wiped everything off of it.
Then I plugged it into my computer and everything was working fine, it was syncing my music and i let it go until about 1000 songs were on it and i got an error message (-50).
This error message I figured wasn't a huge deal. So I restored the ipod again and kept trying it. It hasn't worked since then, and i've only gotten more error messages such as: (-48) and ( x

hey dude, so i got your ipod and it was working completely fine with the music that you had on it, and i had no issues... but when i tried to sync it to my computer and restore it to its original settings, it wouldn't sync. it would get about 1600ish songs on out of the 6000 i was attempting to put on and would give me an error message (-69). i looked it up and it is commonly associated with hard drive problems. i also got error messages (-50) and (-48) during my time trying to sync it and fix the problems. this was on my PC with windows XP and then i tried it on my brother's macbook pro and the same thing happened. i've searched all over the internet trying different potential solutions for the errors, but all signs point to a hardware issue with the ipod you gave me.
So i have a little bit of an issue. i'd either like to trade you for the other ipod that you have, or get my money back.
Thanks a lot, and i look forward to hearing back,
Peter
Wish me luck!
